Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, many citizens are curious to learn as much as possible about the house they live in, mainly because they want to learn about the background and style of their house, evaluate its safety level, and find out whether it haunted or not. I believe that nearby senior citizens and the internet can be two invaluable sources for such curious people to find the best possible information about their buildings.

There are many historical houses in Pakistan Built by Hindu community who lived there for long time. After partition Hindu moved to India and left there houses empty. People came to Pakistan and lived in buildings But new generation curious to know that what the history of our home. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions by giving reasons for interest in a building’s past and suggesting sources such as older residents and online archives. The Pakistan example adds relevant context, while safety and beliefs about haunted houses provide further reasons. However, the explanation of why people investigate is uneven: the historical example raises questions about the house’s style but does not clearly explain what people hope to discover. The research methods are also only briefly covered; the conclusion mentions oral records and archives, but the essay does not explain how to use them or give a concrete example. Develop each reason and research method more fully, and make the relationship between them explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Furthermore” and “Finally” help indicate additional points. However, the overall progression is not consistently clear. The paragraph about historic houses in Pakistan ends with questions about construction, then the next paragraph shifts to safety without a clear link. The conclusion introduces “oral records and archive materials” without these methods being explained in the body, and its final sentence about curiosity decreasing after rebuilding feels disconnected. Some transitions are also mechanical, so organise the essay around the two task questions: reasons first, then research methods. Use clear links between examples and the point each paragraph supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “background,” “construction quality,” “safety and durability,” “oral records” and “archive materials.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the subject beyond basic terms. However, several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “evaluate its safety level,” “bare curiosity” and “a bad history,” and “construction and construction quality” repeats the same word. “Nearby senior citizens” is understandable but less natural than a phrase referring to older residents. Aim for more precise collocations and avoid repetition; this would make your meaning clearer and help you express the ideas with greater flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the opening sentence with several reasons and the conditional clause “if it has a bad history.” Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in sentence construction and basic grammar are noticeable. For example, “whether it haunted or not” is missing a verb, and “People came to Pakistan and lived in buildings But new generation curious” has faulty sentence boundaries and missing grammatical elements. There are also problems with articles, plurals and verb forms in “Hindu moved to India and left there houses empty.” Practise building accurate complete sentences, especially when joining clauses, and check articles, agreement and punctuation before submitting.
