Student answer (Band 5.5)
Recently, historical houses and apartments have been widely considered by mostly people from different countries. Population is being interested in searching out about historical homes or buildings where a number of people once lived in.There are numerous reasons of this trend, and there are multiple sources where they can be searched easily.
One of the main reasons include is that emotional connections between them with their houses. To illustrate, those who once lived in a house for many years, they feel like to regain their memories with the same people when they were living together. For example, most people who has shifted to another country, they wills to come again to find that particular house to remind the memories of their childhood era. Another reason include is that historical building are now more fashionable, since the TV industries are now using old buildings for their commercial adds and programs. So, this makes the buildings more valuable. As a consequence, mostly humanbeings like to maintain their houses as same as the infrastructure of ancient buildings.
There are plenty of ways thorugh which individuals can search about them. Firstly, from internet, since social media like instagram, facebook as well as Google are the main source of searching. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions: you give reasons for interest in a building’s past, including emotional attachment and the influence of television, and suggest online searches, neighbours, books and newspapers as research methods. These are relevant responses, and the childhood-home example helps illustrate the emotional reason. However, the second reason is not fully explained: the link between buildings appearing in television programmes and residents wanting to investigate their own home’s history is unclear. The research methods are also listed rather than developed; for instance, you could explain what records or information a person might seek from neighbours or online archives. More specific support and clearer connections between claims would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, a paragraph on reasons, a paragraph on research methods and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “To conclude” help readers follow the main stages. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The transition from television using old buildings to people maintaining their homes in an ancient style does not clearly develop the stated reason for researching a building’s history. References such as “them” and “this” can also leave the reader unsure whether you mean the buildings, their history or the information. Organise each body paragraph around a clear central point, then use explanation and an example to show how each supporting detail relates to it.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “emotional connections,” “childhood,” “historical buildings” and “digital platforms,” and you attempt some less common expressions. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “widely considered by mostly people” does not express the idea of growing interest clearly, while “search out about” and “commercial adds” are unsuitable forms. There is also repetition of general terms such as “search” and “information.” Aim for precise, natural phrases and check spelling and word forms. Using expressions such as “research a property’s history” and “local historical records” would make your ideas clearer and more academic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “since” and a result clause introduced by “As a consequence.” This shows some range, and the main ideas are generally understandable. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, sentence construction and articles occur in several places. For example, “One of the main reasons include is” has an incorrect verb pattern, and “most people who has shifted” does not maintain subject–verb agreement. In “they feel like to regain,” the verb pattern is also faulty. Some sentences combine clauses awkwardly, making relationships harder to follow. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and use a reliable structure for complex sentences, checking each clause for a clear subject and verb.
