Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions: you suggest reasons such as religious beliefs, concern about a building’s strength, and interest in its age, then mention Wikipedia, owners, and property-selling apps as research sources. These are relevant starting points, but several ideas are unclear or insufficiently explained. For example, the link between researching a building’s strength and avoiding harm in an earthquake needs clarification, and the suggestion that an old building could be used as a museum is not developed. The research section also relies heavily on Wikipedia without explaining how people might verify information or consult records. The conclusion repeats the general topic rather than drawing together the reasons and methods. Develop each point with a clear explanation or example to make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph on reasons, a paragraph on research methods, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the two parts of the task. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, and linking words are often mechanical or awkward. Repeated use of “So” to introduce consequences, and “While” at the start of a contrast, does not always create a clear relationship between ideas. The sentence beginning “Because of some reason” also leaves the connection to the previous point unclear. Some references, such as “that house” and “they,” could be more precise. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each reason or method explicitly to its explanation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “history,” “earthquake,” “first owner,” and “changes,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes meaning unclear. Phrases such as “pure and positive energy,” “the past story,” and “bunch of information” are imprecise or informal for this essay. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “reasearch,” “pendamic,” and “mueseum.” Aim for more precise terms such as “historical records,” “structural safety,” and “property archives,” and check spelling carefully. Vary repeated words such as “building” and “history” where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use basic structures to communicate reasons and examples, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently. These include faulty question structures and word order, as in “people wanted to know the how old is building is,” and problems with verb forms and agreement, such as “the reason for search history may be vary.” Articles and sentence construction are also inconsistent in phrases such as “how old is building.” Some sentences are fragments or are joined awkwardly, including “While, other people wanted to know…” and “So, in the future whenever…”. These errors can make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
