Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both questions: it gives reasons for interest in a building’s past and suggests asking parents or older village residents. The ideas about learning who built or designed a house and how earlier generations lived are relevant. However, the reasons are mostly listed rather than explained, and some details—such as past meal times and work—are not clearly connected to why people want to investigate the building itself. The research discussion is also narrow: it relies mainly on conversations and does not explain how people might use records, archives, or local authorities. The conclusion introduces cultural familiarity and design ideas, but these points are not developed in the main body. Develop fewer ideas with clearer explanations and examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate body paragraphs for reasons and research, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers identify these sections. However, the progression within paragraphs is often list-like, and several ideas repeat, particularly the wish to know who built or designed the house. Some links are unclear: “Apart from this they were interested to know about their work” does not specify whose work is meant or how it relates to the previous point. The conclusion also adds ideas that have not been prepared earlier. Group related points, use clearer references, and make each sentence build on the one before it.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the general topic, with relevant terms such as “history,” “designed,” “elder people,” and “culture.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “know about the history” and “house.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including “agger,” “eaasy,” “thay,” and “architure,” which can make the reader pause. Some combinations are unnatural, such as “time spending on house” and “finding about the history.” Aim to use more precise topic vocabulary and learn common collocations for researching buildings, while checking spelling and choosing natural forms such as “find out about” or “research the history of.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response uses mostly simple sentence patterns, with some attempts to link clauses using “because,” “Moreover,” and “What is more.” However, errors are frequent, and attempts at more complex structures are often faulty. Examples include “how can they find” in an indirect question, “who firstly build their house,” and “how much years ago their house was built.” There are also problems with verb forms and sentence construction in “They can asking to their parents” and “the time spending on house.” Punctuation and sentence boundaries are inconsistent, as in “They can tell them who build their house. What is more…” Practise indirect questions, past-tense forms, and complete, accurately punctuated sentences before adding more complex structures.
