Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both questions: you suggest that people are curious about how older buildings were constructed and what materials were used, and you mention site visits, laboratory testing, the internet, and local residents as research methods. These are relevant starting points. However, the reasons are narrow and sometimes unclear: the claim that people interested in history study buildings is not explained, and the example about tiles and organic materials does not clearly show why this motivates research. The research methods are listed rather than explained, and the conclusion repeats the main points without adding a clear summary of how the methods help. Develop each reason and show more directly how each research method could provide reliable information.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: the opening introduces the topic, the middle sections discuss reasons and research, and a conclusion is attempted. However, progression between ideas is not consistently clear. For example, the first paragraph moves from interest in a building’s history to its structure and materials without establishing the connection, while the next paragraph combines construction quality, lifestyle, and materials in a difficult-to-follow sequence. The research methods are also crowded into one paragraph, with transitions such as “However” not clearly showing a contrast. Several sentences run together or lack clear punctuation. Use separate paragraphs for the reasons and methods, and connect each point with clear explanations and accurate referencing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “construction,” “material,” “lifestyle,” “physical visit,” and “local resident,” so the reader can identify the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “numerious number,” “seaching out,” “old builds,” and “long survivals.” Some expressions are also imprecise, such as “the construction was very excellent” and “a nightmare” for growing interest. Aim for accurate, natural phrases such as “research the building’s history,” “historic properties,” and “preserved in good condition.” Check spelling and choose words that express the intended meaning precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including explanations with “because” and a conditional idea beginning “if they guess.” However, control is limited, and frequent errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation sometimes make meaning difficult to follow. For instance, “Most people who study history subjects have interested” lacks a correct verb pattern, and “these houses was built” has an agreement error. The sentence beginning “While they take material…” is incomplete, and several sentences are joined without appropriate punctuation. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check tense and singular/plural agreement. More accurate simple sentences should come before adding complex clauses.
