Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions: you suggest that residents want to learn about previous owners and a building’s heritage, and you mention neighbours, property records and magazines as research sources. The example of someone moving into a vintage neighbourhood helps illustrate the motivation. However, the reasons are narrow and some points are unclear or insufficiently explained; for instance, “adjust accordingly” does not specify what residents learn or how it affects them. The research methods also need more precise explanation: “hiring an retailors” is difficult to interpret, and the point about area registration is not clearly connected to researching a particular building. Develop each answer with clearer, relevant examples and explain how each method provides information.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for reasons and research methods, and a conclusion. This gives the reader a basic route through the answer. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, and linking phrases can be mechanical or inaccurate. “On one hand” is not followed by a contrasting “on the other hand,” while “In contarst” introduces a point that does not clearly contrast with the previous one. Some references are also unclear, such as “In such case” and “the details” in the research paragraph. Use simpler, more accurate transitions and make the connection between each example and its main point explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “ownership,” “heritage history,” “neighbourhood,” and “legally registered,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors make parts of the response difficult to understand. Examples include “inidividuals,” “resons,” “sorrounding,” and “perivous”; phrases such as “culture of the livelihood” and “hiring an retailors” are also unnatural or unclear. Choose vocabulary that expresses the intended meaning precisely, and check spelling and common word combinations. Reusing accurate terms such as “property records” and “previous owners” would be clearer than attempting uncertain phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple sentences and some attempts at longer structures, including clauses introduced by “therefore” and “For example.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction sometimes make meaning difficult to follow. For example, “a majority of the individuals have becoming” has an incorrect verb form, and “The curiosity of people lead” has a subject–verb agreement error. In “to whom the house belong to,” the verb form and sentence pattern are also incorrect. Practise building accurate sentences before adding complexity, paying particular attention to subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and complete clause structure.
