Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response makes an attempt to address both questions, but it does not explain the reasons people want to learn about a building’s past or give clear, relevant research methods. Instead, it shifts into a discussion of general benefits and harms of technology, with claims such as people becoming “dependent on it” and losing face-to-face communication. These points do not answer the prompt, so the response is largely off-topic and the main ideas remain unclear. The opening also promises to discuss “both the reasons and research,” but neither is developed in a meaningful way. To improve, explain plausible motivations—such as curiosity, family history, or checking a property’s safety—and describe practical sources, for example local archives, previous owners, land records, or historical maps.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a visible attempt to organise the response into an introduction and two body paragraphs, and transitions such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” show an effort to guide the reader. However, the paragraphs do not develop a clear progression: the first discusses supposed disadvantages, while the second turns to general convenience and education rather than the task’s questions. Several sentences are difficult to connect, including “people are becoming interested… reason related others argue…” and “how can people research this but ti is offers several.” Repeated references to “the history of the house or building” also make the writing feel repetitive rather than cohesive. Plan one paragraph for reasons and one for research methods, then connect each example directly to its main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response attempts some topic-related vocabulary, including “history,” “research,” “development,” and “consequences,” and uses linking expressions such as “Furthermore” and “As a result.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices frequently make the intended meaning hard to follow: examples include “buliding,” “increaing populor,” “reserach,” and “hostry.” Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, such as “adjusting time” and “provide more opportunities for people people in different areas.” The repeated use of “people” and “house or building” limits variety. Build a small set of accurate terms relevant to the prompt—such as property records, local archives, previous owners, and historical maps—and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
There are attempts to use longer structures, including “although…” and clauses beginning with “While” and “Furthermore,” but these are often incomplete or incorrectly joined. For example, “In my opinion although history of the house or buliding they live in, a number of benefit…” has no complete, well-formed main clause, and “It allows to save time” is missing a clear object or subject reference. Agreement and sentence construction are also problematic in phrases such as “it brings some negative consequences” and “people live in house or building provide.” Punctuation spacing and comma use further interrupt sentence boundaries. Practise writing complete simple sentences first, then combine them with accurate subordinate clauses; check that every sentence has a clear subject and finite verb.
