Student answer (Band 4.5)

A number of people around the world are becoming interested in discovering the history where they live. This essay will discuss the main reason behind this and suggest a way to look for it.

One of the major reasons is to prevent danger. This is due to what they experienced before.there.As a result, many people are trying to know houses's story. For example, many people were killed inside their houses because they did not have an idea about it. Hence, in order to avoid these scared stories people they are more appeal to instigate.

One way to deal with this issue is to recorde every step. By doing this, people can take proofs for everything and simultanously exploring. Thereafter, people can do their reserach with evidence. For instance, i remember one day i decided to discover the house where i live and i used a camera to filme and then i found somthing abnormal. However, i called the police directly. This clearly shows the importance of recording in situations like that.

In conclusion, one of the majore reasons is that people want to avoid danger and and recording while doing their reaserch is crucial to take evidence.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You address both questions by proposing that people investigate to avoid danger and by recommending that they record their research. However, these ideas are only minimally explained and the response does not clearly establish why learning a building’s history would prevent danger. The example about finding something abnormal and calling the police is also unclear and does not show how recording helps uncover the building’s past. The task requires at least 250 words, and this response is 53 words short, which limits the opportunity to explain and support your points. Develop several plausible reasons, such as curiosity, family history, or checking a property’s safety, and explain practical research methods such as public records, archives, or speaking with previous residents.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic structure: an introduction, one paragraph for a reason, one for a research method, and a conclusion. This makes the two parts of the task identifiable. However, progression within the paragraphs is weak, and some links between ideas are difficult to follow. For example, “This is due to what they experienced before” does not explain what experience is meant, while “Thereafter” does not clearly show how recording leads to researching a building’s history. Linking phrases such as “As a result” and “For example” are used, but they cannot compensate for unclear relationships between points. Use a clear topic sentence, then explain and illustrate each point in a logical sequence, with references that make the connection between sentences explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “discovering the history,” “evidence,” and “recording,” and you attempt more specific language such as “abnormal.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms make the meaning unclear. Phrases such as “houses’s story,” “more appeal to instigate,” and “scared stories” are not natural ways to express the intended ideas. There are also spelling errors, including “recorde,” “simultanously,” “reserach,” and “somthing.” These issues sometimes strain the reader’s understanding. Build a bank of accurate topic phrases, such as “trace a property’s history,” “consult historical records,” and “investigate previous ownership,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a few different sentence patterns, including a reason clause with “This is due to…” and a conditional structure with “in order to avoid…”. Some sentences are understandable, but the range is limited and errors recur. For example, “many people were killed inside their houses because they did not have an idea about it” has an unclear pronoun reference, and “people they are more appeal” has faulty sentence structure. The example sentence beginning “i remember one day i decided…” also needs clearer control of tense and punctuation. There are run-on or incomplete-looking sections, such as “before.there.” Practise forming complete sentences with one clear subject and verb, and check pronouns, verb forms, capitalization, and punctuation when editing.
