Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response attempts to address both questions: it suggests curiosity and pride in a building’s history as reasons, and mentions online information, libraries, and local people in the conclusion. However, the main body does not explain these points clearly or support them with relevant examples. The discussion of “nat proper the work of their homes” and the later references to flights, hotels, and house prices are difficult to connect to researching a building’s history. As a result, the response only minimally answers the task, and the reader cannot reliably identify the intended reasons or research methods. To improve, explain each reason directly and develop practical methods—for example, checking property records, local archives, or speaking with previous owners—with a relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “For example,” and “In conclusion” show awareness of paragraph structure. However, ideas do not progress logically within the paragraphs. The second body paragraph begins with research methods but shifts to flights, hotels, and accommodation without explaining their connection. Several sentences are also difficult to follow, and the final sentence ends abruptly (“There are many person enjoy thev flight and every s”), leaving the conclusion incomplete. Build each paragraph around one clear point, use linking words only where the relationship is clear, and ensure every sentence supports the paragraph’s main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response attempts some topic-related vocabulary, including “historical value,” “online information,” “libraries,” and “financial benefits.” However, vocabulary is often basic, repetitive, or inaccurately chosen, which makes key ideas hard to understand. Phrases such as “many and more are becoming focus,” “the historical of building,” and “the advance booking of flight” do not express the intended meaning naturally. There are also spelling and word-form problems, including “tend,” “researchs,” “curoosity,” and “hoses.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations related to the topic, and check spelling and word forms. More precise expressions such as “becoming increasingly interested” and “property records” would help communicate the ideas clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response uses some simple sentence patterns and attempts longer structures, including “There are several reasons for this tend and people can use different methods to research it.” However, grammatical control is weak: errors are frequent and sometimes distort meaning. Examples include the incomplete opening (“nowadays, is an integral issue”), missing or incorrect articles and plurals in “the history of the building,” and faulty sentence construction in “Firstly people are more curious and roots.” Subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries are also problematic, as in “There are many family members are stayed the hotels.” Practise forming complete subject–verb sentences, then check articles, verb forms, agreement, and punctuation. Clear, accurate simple sentences should come before more complex structures.
