Student answer (Band 5.0)
So, I have to tell the reasons about the interest of people in finding the history of their house. At first , if I talk about my opinion or thinking, i think that its human nature to explore and to be curious about everything and that's the reason behind all the inventions done by human. So people living in a house and a building are interested about finding the history of their house because now most of the people are educated and they think and ponder over everything. They try to find a reason behind every happening, so they also try to find the history of their house , their building, their place. They want to know more and more about the place , they have been living in.They want to know that their house may belong to a royal prince or princess sometimes or their house might be a favourite place of people sometimes before. There may be many other reasons.
As far as the question of research is concerned , now there are a lot of means of research available. People can use various online websites using the internet for the research purpose . And in this modern era , now nothing is hard to find out as a lot of journals , articles , and books are available on any topic, whether the topic is about a place , about any person or about anything else they want. Its all about priority that what they want to make a search on.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses both questions: it suggests curiosity and a desire to discover a building’s past, then mentions online sources, journals, articles and books. These points are relevant, but the reasons remain broad and are not sufficiently explained or supported with a specific example. The suggestion that a house may have belonged to a prince or princess is imaginative, yet it is not developed into a clear explanation of why people value that knowledge. The research section is also brief and general; it could explain practical methods such as checking property records, local archives, old maps or speaking with previous residents. A clearer, more fully developed account of both parts would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic overall structure: the first section discusses reasons, and the second turns to research. Linking phrases such as “As far as the question of research is concerned” help signal this shift. However, the first section contains several ideas in one long block, with repeated references to people wanting to know more, so the progression is not always clear. Connectors such as “so,” “and,” and “because” are used repeatedly, sometimes creating run-on sentences rather than showing precise relationships between points. Divide the response into clearer paragraphs and organise each around one main idea, using a wider range of accurate links and clear references to improve flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main ideas, with relevant terms such as “history,” “inventions,” “journals,” and “articles.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, including “find the history,” “means of research,” and “make a search on.” The repeated use of “want to know” also limits variety. Some phrasing may make the reader pause, even though the general meaning is usually understandable. Aim for more precise collocations and topic-specific vocabulary, such as “trace a property’s history,” “research methods,” “property records,” and “local archives.” This would make the discussion clearer and more natural without changing its ideas.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some complex sentences, for example, “They try to find a reason behind every happening, so they also try to find the history of their house.” However, sentence structures are often long and loosely joined, and errors in punctuation and sentence boundaries make the writing harder to follow. Examples include “human. So people” and the extended sentence beginning “People can use various online websites.” Capitalisation is also inconsistent, as in “i think,” and apostrophes are missing in “its human nature.” There is some use of subordinate clauses, but the range is limited and complex sentences are not consistently controlled. Use shorter, complete sentences and check punctuation, capital letters and apostrophes carefully.
