Student answer (Band 4.5)
People are usually getting intrested in knowing history or some past related things to where they live in.. from my perspective or knowledge which i believe is, I think people are eager to know who resided there who died at their property beacuse nowadays , I think people are beliveing in such kind of superstitions that , People before you may have resided there and may have had a dark history or did some black magic stuff, They are also some opinions of society that one should'nt built their house or building on the place where their was another property before , beacuse the people may have practiced something really sinister, that may cause the upcoming or currently living residents a bad omen , which may cause many issues to their families, some say you should always research whether your land was not a cemetary that also causes many disturbances to your family, Something similar happened to a friend of mine he wanted to shift to new house which was nearby to our colony so eventually like any other family they went to a contractor who introduced them into the house explained who was it owned by , A typical house tour but little did they know when he and his father deeply researched about that house, a history beneath got revealed there was a cult of people who left talismanic things in their houses basements who lived before them, their family was shocked they eventually began to search a differnt House , So my opinion is people should always research where they live whats the history. If one wantsa to research about that site they can either ask the contractors or they can get help of local in this case .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both questions to some extent: you suggest that people may be concerned about previous occupants, disturbing events, or the possibility that a site was once a cemetery, and you mention asking contractors or local people. However, the response focuses heavily on superstition and one anecdote, so the reasons are narrow and not fully explained. The research methods are especially underdeveloped: the final sentence names two sources but does not explain how they could provide reliable information or mention other options, such as property records, archives, or local history groups. The example about your friend supports the topic, but its details do not clearly establish why people generally investigate a building’s past. Develop a broader, clearer answer to both parts.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a recognisable line of thought, moving from possible reasons for curiosity to a personal example and then to ways of researching a property. However, ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs, and the response reads largely as one extended sentence. Connectors such as “so,” “eventually,” and “but” are repeated or used to join too many ideas, making relationships between points difficult to follow. The shift from general beliefs to the friend’s story is abrupt, and the conclusion repeats the recommendation without summarising the main points. Use separate paragraphs for reasons, research methods, and the example, and make each sentence express one main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “property,” “contractor,” “cemetery,” and “research,” and phrases such as “dark history” help convey the writer’s concern. However, the range is limited and several choices are informal or imprecise for an academic essay, including “black magic stuff,” “a typical house tour,” and “bad omen.” Spelling errors such as “intrested,” “beacuse,” and “differnt” are noticeable, while repeated use of “people,” “house,” and “history” limits variety. Aim for more precise terms and collocations, such as “previous occupants,” “historical records,” and “local archives.” This would make the ideas clearer and more appropriately formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to express complex relationships, for example when explaining that earlier residents’ actions might affect current occupants, but long sentences often become difficult to control. The opening runs several clauses together, and the account of your friend’s house contains multiple ideas joined without clear sentence boundaries. There are also recurring errors in verb forms and agreement, as in “one should’nt built” and “If one wantsa,” as well as article and tense problems in “who was it owned by.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, which further obscures sentence structure. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then add subordinate clauses with accurate verb forms and punctuation.
