Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response makes an attempt to address both questions, but the reasons are only partly explained and the research methods are not clearly connected to the history of the writer’s own home. The opening explanation focuses on noticing features such as rooms, safety and construction, then concludes that these prompt curiosity; this is relevant, but the reasoning remains repetitive and does not explain other likely motives, such as preserving a property’s story or understanding previous owners. The examples of the Indus Valley and the Samood are relevant to historical buildings in general, but the claim that modern houses follow the same design is asserted rather than supported. To develop the response, explain practical research methods—such as checking property records, archives, old maps, or asking previous residents—and give a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic overall structure: it introduces reasons, then presents ways to research, and ends with a summary. The labels “The reasons are” and “People can research history of houses by many ways” help signal the two parts of the task. However, the first section is one very long sentence containing a list of rooms and building features, so the main point is difficult to follow. The two historical examples are separated, but the relationship between them and researching one’s own house is unclear. Repeated use of “people can research” and “houses” makes the progression mechanical. Use shorter paragraphs, group related details, and connect each example explicitly to a research method or to the question being answered.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses a basic range of vocabulary related to buildings and history, including “construction,” “structured,” “drainage system,” and “civilization.” These terms help communicate the general subject, but much of the wording is repetitive, especially “houses,” “people,” and “research.” Several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “interesting to research,” “history of Nation,” and “same to us,” while spelling errors such as “bulit” and “drianage” reduce control. Aim for more precise phrases that express motives and research sources, for example “curiosity about the property’s origins,” “previous occupants,” and “historical records.” Check spelling and collocations, and avoid repeating the same general nouns when a more specific term is available.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

There are attempts to use longer sentences and clauses, but control is inconsistent, and errors often make the ideas harder to understand. For example, “When people live in there houses and go out and enter to the houses” has problems with possessives, prepositions, and sentence construction. The extended sentence beginning “they see their houses and think about houses that how…” contains several clauses without clear grammatical links. Verb forms are also inaccurate in “used to made houses,” and agreement and article use are unreliable in phrases such as “the famous cities of that era.” Use a clearer mix of short sentences and controlled complex structures. Practise accurate past-tense forms, possessives, articles, and clause linking, then proofread each sentence for a complete, logical structure.
