Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions: you suggest that people may hope to find valuable objects and may want to benefit from a building’s connection to a famous person, then mention online searches, Google Maps and contacting previous owners. These are relevant ideas, and the examples from Egypt and Om Kalthoum help make them more concrete. However, the reasons are not fully explained: for instance, clarify why discovering a famous former resident or historical artefacts matters to people beyond possible financial gain. The research methods also need more detail and accuracy; explain what records or sources people could consult and how these would reveal a building’s past. The conclusion restates the value of history but does not bring the main points together clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for reasons and research methods, and a conclusion. Sequencing is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” help readers identify the stages of the argument. However, the progression within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt: the claim about finding treasure moves quickly to Egypt, while the famous singer example is not clearly linked to the broader reason people investigate a home’s history. Some linking is mechanical, and “Moverover” introduces the research paragraph without a smooth connection to the preceding ideas. Use clearer references and explain the relationship between each example and its main point to make cohesion more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “history,” “artifacts,” “previous owners,” and “museum,” and the examples show an attempt to express ideas beyond very basic statements. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or spellings make parts of the response difficult to interpret, such as “incent area,” “in instant,” “holding this believe,” and “make benefit of it.” There are also repeated general terms such as “people,” “house,” and “know.” Aim for more precise expressions for historical research and motivations, and check spelling and collocations carefully. More accurate choices would help communicate your ideas without requiring the reader to infer your intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a conditional idea in “if the house they own now was belong to a famous person” and a relative clause in “the house they are living in.” This shows some willingness to vary sentence structure. However, complex attempts are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make several sentences hard to follow. For example, “many people who are tend to know” has an incorrect verb pattern, while “the house they own now was belong” combines incompatible verb forms. There are also problems with articles, agreement and sentence construction, as in “a treasury can be found” and “this reflects the importance of know more.” Practise accurate clause patterns and verb forms before adding complexity.
