Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both questions: you suggest that interest may come from curiosity about famous former residents and mention the internet, books, and videos as research methods. However, the response only partially fulfils the task because the reasons are narrow and some explanations are unclear or not well connected to researching the history of one’s own home. The example about the crown prince is difficult to follow, and the conclusion shifts towards people wanting to imitate famous people or travel, rather than clearly summarising why they investigate their own building’s past. Develop a wider, more relevant reason—such as checking a property’s age, former uses, or architectural significance—and explain how each research method can uncover that information. The response meets the stated length requirement; 10 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, separate body paragraphs for reasons and research methods, and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its broad structure. Basic signposting such as “One main reason,” “For example,” and “First” also helps indicate the direction of ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow: the discussion moves from famous residents to copying their lifestyle and then to improving living standards without making the links clear. The research paragraph similarly combines internet searches, social media, books, and personal experience with limited explanation. Some linking phrases are repetitive or awkward, and the conclusion introduces ideas not developed earlier. Organise each paragraph around one clear point, explain it in sequence, and use referencing and transitions to show how each sentence connects.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “historic buildings,” “political figures,” “structure,” and “research,” and you use some topic-related expressions such as “former famous people.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make meaning unclear, including “research out,” “the ideal for your self,” and “daily history type structure.” Spelling errors such as “histy,” “varoius,” “histrioc,” and “immpresive” also distract the reader. Some expressions are repeated, particularly “historic” and “people,” rather than being varied precisely. Build a reliable set of phrases for property history, such as “previous occupants,” “property records,” and “architectural features,” and check spelling and word forms carefully. More accurate, natural combinations would make your ideas easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer explanations using clauses, for example, “This is because people consider…” and “because internet is the easiest way…”. This shows an effort to connect reasons and explanations. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty, so the reader sometimes has to work to identify the intended meaning. Examples include “In few countries, much people,” “people can on internet,” and “people influenced to see,” which show problems with articles, quantifiers, verb forms, and sentence construction. There are also errors in agreement and punctuation, such as “historic houses is common reasons” and the lower-case sentence beginning “because.” Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check articles, plural forms, and verb agreement before adding extra clauses.
