Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, in some countries, more and more people are becoming interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in. I will discuss the points in this essay.
Firstly, some people like to know about their house history because some people worried about the old owner. They were worried about their house was not involve in any criminal activity. Some people research it and find the bad news about their house in area where the house was build.
Secondly, many people found the history of their house material. Before he was start renovate it what type material the old owner used. They talk about the pros and cons of the house. For instance the house was hauted or something bad happen in the past to the previous year. Some people did saw this in a very serious way.
The other thing was if they renovate it the find the history about what type of family lived in their house he talk with them what type of things the use is their any leakage of water in the walls in any room. Because in old homes this was the main issue that everyone faces. The new owner try to fix it and then apply renovation in house.
In conclusion, the history in my opinion is very important to everyone because it provide many solution of a problem the new owner of house face. The find the pros and cons of a new house. The main point is they must be verified to a nearby police station about any criminal activity had done in past.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both questions to some extent: you suggest that people may worry about criminal activity and want to learn about materials or problems before renovating. However, the reasons are not always clearly explained, and the second question—how people can research a building’s history—is only minimally answered. Mentioning a nearby police station is one possible step, but you could also explain how to consult property records, archives, previous owners, or local residents. The response is also 244 words, below the required 250 words; the 24 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop each main idea with a clear explanation or example, and ensure the response meets the minimum length.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an introduction, several body paragraphs, and a conclusion, and sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” help signal the structure. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow because ideas shift within paragraphs: the discussion moves from criminal activity to building materials, haunting, previous families, and water leakage without clear links. Some references are also unclear, as in “they talk about the pros and cons” and “he talk with them.” Organise the essay around the two questions, with one paragraph explaining reasons and another giving practical research methods. Use linking phrases to show how each example supports its main point rather than relying mainly on basic sequence markers.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “criminal activity,” “renovate,” “pros and cons,” and “leakage of water,” so the reader can identify the general subject of your ideas. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unclear, such as “house history,” “house material,” and “the house was hauted.” Repetition of “house,” “people,” and “history” also restricts variety. Aim for more precise phrases such as “the property’s past,” “building materials,” and “structural problems.” Check spelling and collocation, and choose vocabulary that clearly distinguishes researching a property’s records from inspecting its physical condition.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including a conditional idea in “Before he was start renovate it” and a reason clause beginning “because.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction frequently make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “some people worried” needs a suitable verb form, while “the find the pros and cons” does not have a clear grammatical subject or verb. There are also run-on constructions, particularly in the paragraph beginning “The other thing was if they renovate it.” Practise building accurate short sentences first, then connect them with clauses using correct forms such as “before renovating” and “they can find out whether.”
