Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions: you explain that people want to understand their roots and pass on family traditions, and you suggest speaking to older relatives and consulting family diaries. These are relevant ideas, but they are only briefly explained. For example, the link between researching a building and preserving culture is asserted rather than illustrated, and the research methods are limited to family sources. The response would be more complete with further practical avenues, such as checking property records, local archives, old maps, or speaking with previous owners, and explaining how these could reveal a building’s past. The opening repeats the task’s premise, while the conclusion largely restates earlier points rather than adding a clear final insight.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for reasons and research methods, and a conclusion. Sequencing is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “To conclude” help identify the stages of the discussion. However, linking is sometimes mechanical, with repeated formulae such as “Thus” and “Hence,” and some references are unclear—for instance, “these are the reasons behind finding out about the history or building” does not clearly identify the building. The conclusion repeats the body rather than synthesising it. To improve progression, connect each explanation directly to the next and use pronouns or linking phrases with clear referents.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “ancestors,” “tradition,” “culture,” and “generations,” so the main ideas are understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or repetitive, which makes the writing less natural. Examples include “gain interest” for “become interested,” “research about this,” and “find out their old relation.” “Dairy” is also used where “diary” is intended, and “streathen” and “histroy” are misspelled. Repeated use of “find out” and “history” further restricts variety. Build a more precise set of phrases for family research and buildings, such as “trace a property’s ownership” or “consult local archives,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “which,” and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “more and more people are gain interest” should be “are becoming interested”; “It also help people” needs subject–verb agreement; and “many people in past use dairy” needs appropriate articles and tense. The phrase “why they finding out their history” is also missing an auxiliary verb. Practise forming accurate complex sentences and check each sentence for a clear subject, correctly formed verb, and necessary articles before submitting.
