Student answer (Band 5.5)

People are getting more fascinating to know about the sites and places where they live. I belief that design and architecture amaze the people so, people start to think about it and desire to know about its history.

There are many reasons as architecture, design, furniture, paintings, structure, color combination, and garden. Any of those fascinate them .Therefore they become curious. They start to reserch about it in different ways, ask from their parents or check from internet.

In my people there are many old houses. One of those we are living which are seem antique and hunted. The strange design of doors and windows, odd painting on wall, statues and utensils. Those things urge me to think about their owers . I think that why they build it in this design and what the reason behind it. Due to this curiosity I ask my father about it. amd he tell me that those are build by Hindus . They migrated to india at the time of migration, so we start to live there. Then I come to know about it .

And everyone has its own preference due to which they know about the buildings where they live . I just share my thoughts and experiences.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both questions: you suggest that architectural features create curiosity, and you describe asking your father about the house’s past. The personal example—learning that the house was built by Hindus who migrated to India—helps make the response relevant. However, the reasons are mostly listed rather than explained, and the research methods are only briefly mentioned as asking parents or checking the internet. The response also does not meet the required minimum of 250 words, so there is limited space to develop these points. To strengthen the answer, explain why people value knowing a building’s history and give more practical research options, such as consulting property records, local archives, or previous residents.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation: the opening introduces curiosity about buildings, the next paragraph gives possible reasons and research methods, and the following paragraph provides a personal example. This gives the reader a basic route through the response. However, progression is uneven, and the final sentence about everyone having their own preference does not clearly conclude the discussion. Connections between ideas are sometimes abrupt, as in the move from listing architectural features to saying people research in different ways. Use clearer paragraph purposes and link each example directly to the question it supports. A brief conclusion could summarise the main reasons and research methods, while more precise referencing would clarify who “they” refers to.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “architecture,” “antique,” “statues,” and “migration,” and the description of the doors, windows, and paintings gives the example some specificity. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, which can make meaning less clear. For example, “more fascinating to know” does not express the intended idea naturally, “hunted” appears to mean “haunted,” and “owers” is unclear. “Design” and “people” are also repeated frequently. Build a more precise range for discussing research and history, such as “property records,” “previous occupants,” and “local archives,” and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response communicates its main ideas, and you attempt some longer structures, such as “Due to this curiosity I ask my father about it” and the sentence explaining the migration. However, the range is mostly simple, and attempts to connect clauses are often inaccurate. Errors include “I belief” instead of “I believe,” “which are seem antique,” and “he tell me”; verb forms and agreement are not consistently controlled. There are also problems with articles and sentence boundaries, for example “in this design” and the run-on sequence beginning “The strange design of doors and windows.” Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “which,” and “when.”
