Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You address both questions to some extent: you suggest that residents want to learn about former occupants and a building’s purpose, and you mention the internet and older people as research sources. The Badshahi Mosque example adds relevant historical detail, but it takes up much of the response and does not clearly explain why people investigate the history of their own homes. The research methods are only briefly stated, with little explanation of how someone might use them. The response is also 16 words below the required minimum. To develop the answer, explain several reasons directly and describe practical research steps, such as checking property records, archives, or local libraries, with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic sequence from reasons and historical interest to research methods, and the mosque example gives the reader a concrete point of reference. However, most of the first section is presented as one very long, loosely connected sentence, so the ideas do not progress clearly. Repeated phrases such as “want to know” and “about the history” make the response feel repetitive, while links between the general reasons and the mosque example are not always clear. The final sentence introduces research methods abruptly. Use separate paragraphs for reasons, the example, and research methods, and connect each point with clear transitions and references.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “historical buildings,” “purpose,” “material,” “structure,” and “knowledge,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “look after about the past history” does not express researching a building’s past, and “old residence” is unclear when you mean former residents. Spelling errors such as “induv idual,” “knoweldge,” and “turiest” also reduce clarity. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing research and architecture, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to combine ideas using clauses, for example in “they also want to know what are the improving material they use,” but the sentence structure is often faulty and the range of structures remains limited. Errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries frequently make the reader work to understand the message. Examples include “the building was build,” “Mosque was build,” and “people research on old building.” The opening also runs several ideas together without full stops, and question word order is used inside an indirect question. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses while checking tense, agreement, and punctuation.
