Student answer (Band 5.5)
The topic of the excitement of people about the history for their buildings is becoming very common. In upcoming paragraphs I will explain the reasons and research methods to clear it .
Commencing with the reasons, the first and the foremost reason which hits in my mind is related to the old traditions and the history of their country. For instance, in India's history there was a lot of wars , different religions, different states and different concepts. There is a state in India named as Punjab which is very popular because of their religion "Sikhism" .Many of the wars were happened there wherever Sikh Guru's placed their weapons, stay there or ever tie their horses , where they lost their life , everywhere Sikhs made the Sikh Temple by naming them such as Gurudwara Arrisar Sahib , it was established because one of the Guru's horse was stuck there .
Moving forward with research methods, the main method is communication with old people because they know a lot of about our history. Whenever we ask them about our history definitely we will know something new . Apart from this , movies are the best method to recognise our history. For example, in Punjab in every Sikh Temple a movie named "Char Sahibzade " played every year and all the people of village go their and refresh the memory of their god .
In conclusion, it depicts that to remember their ancestors they wanna to know about their history and by communication and movies they can know better them .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both questions: you suggest that interest comes from remembering traditions and ancestors, and you mention asking older people and watching films as research methods. The Punjab and Sikh examples make the response relevant, but the reasons are only partly explained. The discussion focuses mainly on religious and national history, without clearly explaining why people want to know the history of their particular home, such as curiosity about previous residents, architectural features, or the building’s value. The research methods also need more practical detail: films may provide general historical context, but you do not explain how they reveal a specific building’s past. Develop each point with a direct link to the task and a clearer example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for reasons and research methods, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “Commencing with the reasons” and “Moving forward with research methods” helps readers follow the broad stages of the answer. However, some connections are mechanical, and the long example about Punjab makes the progression within the reasons paragraph difficult to follow. References such as “there,” “them,” and “their history” are not always clear, particularly in the final sentence. Organise each body paragraph around one main point, then explain and illustrate it in a shorter sequence. Use linking expressions selectively and make pronoun references explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “traditions,” “history,” “research methods,” and “ancestors,” and the Sikh and Punjab references give the response some specific language. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, which can make meaning less clear. Examples include “the excitement of people about the history for their buildings,” “a lot of wars,” and “recognise our history.” Repeated use of “history” and “people” also limits precision. Aim to use more accurate phrases for the task, such as “interest in a property’s past,” “historical records,” and “learn about previous occupants.” Check that each chosen expression fits its context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “the first and the foremost reason which hits in my mind” and a time clause beginning “Whenever we ask them.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “Many of the wars were happened there” uses an incorrect verb form, while “one of the Guru’s horse was stuck there” has an agreement error. Some sentences also run on, especially the long account of the Gurudwara’s origin. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then check subject–verb agreement, past-tense forms, and punctuation when combining ideas.
