Student answer (Band 5.5)

In some countries like Pakistan people are becoming keen to know about the history of their houses or the buildings because of historical heritage. Some people get fassinated to know who made this house, who stayed in this house before them and the purpose of building it .While some areas like Androon Lahore have some special houses which where alloted by the government to the citizens to live at the time of partition.

For example,my grand mother's maternal house was own by a respected family before partition and the house contain the symbolisms of Sikhism and their historical heritage which were kept as it is for a while.I personally enjoyed to explore about Sikhism because of that house. It is important to search for the history of the place you live because it aid you to be educated on different aspects. In Gujranwala there are some areas where some buildings are still in their old state which fassinates many people in the country to know more about them.

In my personal experience one must know the history of their houses to be extra consious about who owns it before them and to be carefull from the scams.

For instance, one of my good friend's dad bought a house without investigating the history and later on got scamed as the person claiming the house was his wasn't the owner.

People can research about the history of their houses or buildings by the aid of inernet via government designated websites to cross-check or people can physically visit the area and ask the locals about it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses both questions: it gives reasons for interest in a building’s past, including curiosity about previous occupants and concern about ownership scams, and suggests online research and asking local residents. The family-house example and the story of your friend’s father make the ideas relevant. However, the reasons are not consistently explained: the link between historical heritage and people’s growing interest could be clearer, and the scam example supports checking ownership more than researching a building’s history. The research methods are also only briefly described; explain what records people might consult and how local accounts can be verified. More focused development and a clearer overall position would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation: the response moves from reasons and examples to personal experience and then to research methods. Examples such as the house in Androon Lahore and the ownership scam help illustrate points. However, the progression is not consistently clear because several ideas are crowded into long paragraphs, and the shift from historical curiosity to avoiding fraud is abrupt. Linking phrases such as “For example” and “In my personal experience” are used, but relationships between ideas are sometimes left implicit. Separate the main reasons into distinct paragraphs, then give research methods in their own paragraph. Use clearer references so readers can tell whether “the house” refers to the family home or buildings generally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses some relevant vocabulary, including “historical heritage,” “partition,” “locals,” and “government designated websites,” which helps communicate the topic. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as describing the house’s “symbolisms of Sikhism.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural word choices are noticeable, including “fassinated,” “consious,” “scamed,” and “aid you to be educated.” Some phrases are also repetitive, particularly “history of their houses” and “know more.” Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, and choose precise terms for historical records and ownership checks. This would make the ideas easier to follow and give the vocabulary more flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response attempts both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “the person claiming the house was his wasn’t the owner” and a reason clause beginning “because.” However, errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to read. For example, “the house contain” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “which where alloted” has an incorrect verb form and unclear clause construction. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention: “because of historical heritage” and the run-on opening sentence would be clearer with corrected articles and punctuation. Practise building accurate complex sentences, checking agreement and verb forms, and separating complete ideas with full stops.
