Student answer (Band 5.5)

People interest changes with time but interest in the history of house or buildings remained the centre of the interest for centuries till today.Ever century and empires has its own architecture for the buildings they used to live in.

People in some countries are more and more becoming interested in knowing about the history of the house or buildings they live in, because every building has its own story to tell about. The architecture of the building tells about the era of the building where it was built. The internal design shows the purpose of building.Firstly, In ancient times building or houses were build to be protected from invaders.Secondly there are some houses which people abondond when they moved on.finally people want to know about the history of who made the building and for what purpose. For example like Taj Mahal, Lal Qila and many more.People want to know the purpose of the building and who live in it at that moment.

There are many ways to confrim the research about the buildings. Before the evalution of internet people use to resreach about buildings from history books, histrorian and the belives of older generation. Moreover, nowadays people can search about the histoy of the building from internet and authentic websites because it is hard to research from books about buildings one by one.

It can be concluded that, buildings do have history to it,there are purposes of the building and research about the building is nowadays pretty easy.Internet cannot solve all the problem but it can majorily help in the research.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both questions: it gives reasons for interest in a building’s past, such as learning about its architecture, original purpose, and former occupants, and it mentions research through books, historians, older generations, and websites. These points are relevant, and the examples of the Taj Mahal and Lal Qila help illustrate interest in historic buildings. However, some reasons are not fully explained: for instance, the point about houses being abandoned is introduced without showing why this makes residents curious about their own homes. The research methods are also listed rather than developed with a specific example of how someone might use them. More explanation and clearer links to the question would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on reasons, one on research methods, and a conclusion. The sequence from reasons to ways of researching is logical, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Moreover” help readers follow the main points. However, the linking can feel mechanical, particularly in the list of reasons, and some connections between ideas are unclear. The opening moves from changing interests to architecture without a clear link, while “finally” introduces another reason but does not clearly build on the previous points. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s focus, and connect examples directly to the claim they support. Clearer referencing would also help readers track which buildings or people are being discussed.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “architecture,” “era,” “purpose,” “invaders,” “authentic websites,” and “older generation.” These choices show an attempt to discuss history and research rather than relying only on very basic terms. However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural phrasing are noticeable, including “confrim,” “evalution,” “histrorian,” and “the belives of older generation.” Some repetition of “building,” “history,” and “purpose” also limits variety. A few expressions, such as “centre of the interest” and “the history of who made the building,” are not idiomatic and make the meaning less precise. Check spelling carefully and learn natural collocations such as “historical background” and “original purpose.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

There is some variety in sentence forms, including explanations with “because,” sequencing clauses, and the contrast in “Internet cannot solve all the problem but it can majorily help.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and verb forms occur across the response. For example, “every century and empires has” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “houses were build” uses the wrong verb form. The opening also runs sentences together, while punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent. These issues sometimes make the reader pause, even though the intended meaning is usually recoverable. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled subordinate clauses and check agreement and past-tense forms.
