Student answer (Band 5.0)

A lot of people show their interest to find about the history of the home they live in. To know about the architectural detailings hidden in them tend to know about the history of building and this can be reached by enquiring the neighbours.

The primary reason that people want to know about their lived houses is to understand the architectural detailings that involved in construction. In recent times, there is a great demand to the buildings with good detailings. For example, historical fort are considered as a tourist place in account of their asthetic designs. This study will make them to preserve those strutures.

There are only limited ways to research. One can do enquire with the surroundings to reach the correct loaction and details. In order to reach an unkown place the best possible way is to enquire the neighbours. With the instructions from them we can able to reach that.

In conclusion, the reason to know about the history of once lived place is to know about architectural setailings of that place and that can be attained by enquiring with neighbours.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You address both questions in a basic way: you give a reason—interest in architectural details—and suggest asking neighbours as a research method. However, the response only minimally fulfils the task because the reason is narrow and the research discussion is not developed. The example of historic forts being tourist attractions does not clearly explain why residents investigate their own homes, and asking neighbours is repeated without considering other useful sources, such as property records, local archives, previous owners, or online databases. The conclusion simply restates the same points. The response is also 66 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to explain and support your ideas. Develop several relevant reasons and explain how each research method could help.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an opening, separate paragraphs for the reason and research method, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main sections. However, progression within those sections is limited: the research paragraph repeats the idea of enquiring with neighbours and gives little additional information. Some links between ideas are unclear, particularly the opening sentence, where the relationship between architectural details and finding out about a building’s history is difficult to follow. The conclusion also repeats the introduction rather than drawing the discussion together. To improve, organise each body paragraph around one clear point, then explain it and add a relevant example; use linking phrases to show how the explanation follows from the main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “architectural,” “construction,” “historical,” and “preserve,” which shows an attempt to discuss buildings and their past. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the meaning less clear, such as “detailings,” “asthetic,” “strutures,” and “loaction.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “show their interest to find” and “in account of.” Repetition of “enquire” and “neighbours” further restricts the vocabulary. Aim to learn accurate collocations for this topic and vary the terms used for research sources and historical features. For example, “architectural features” is more natural than “architectural detailings,” and “because of” fits the intended meaning better than “in account of.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a few longer sentence forms, including “For example, historical fort are considered as a tourist place in account of their asthetic designs,” and the response is generally understandable. However, the range of structures is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to interpret. In “To know about the architectural detailings hidden in them tend to know,” the sentence lacks a clear grammatical subject and the relationship between ideas is incomplete. Other examples include “the buildings with good detailings,” “historical fort are,” and “we can able to reach that,” which show problems with articles, agreement, and verb patterns. Practise building clear subject–verb sentences, then add subordinate clauses only when their grammatical structure is secure.
