Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, many people have a great interest in finding out about the history of the house or building where they live. There are several reasons behind this interest such as, they wanted to know about the construction and design and history also.
There are two main reasons why people are curious about the history of their houses. Firstly, people want yo feel a stronger emotional connection to their home. They want to know who lived there before, and how they can create and designed such beautiful and gorgeous place. For instance, if someone know that their house was built 100 years ago and faced many difficulties like war then they feel proud. Secondly, if the house was very old and look like historical building. It has a higher market value. Therefore, houseowners have a great interest about their houses where they live.
On the other hand, How to research the history of a buildings? There are several methods available. First one is that we go to the registration office and asked the manager that where is the stamp paper of our house. Another method is to use online resourses and talk to local people. In addition, speaking from the neighbours of the area can provide valuable personal stories and information about your resident.
From my perspectives, people are interested in the history of their homes for emotional and financial reasons. It is evident that when they check the papers and know about their houses the feel relax and happy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions: emotional attachment and possible financial value are given as reasons, and you suggest checking records, using online resources, and speaking with local residents. The example of a house that survived a war helps illustrate pride, but several points need fuller explanation. For instance, the claim that an old-looking house has a higher market value is asserted rather than supported, and the registration-office method is unclear. The final paragraph repeats the reasons instead of developing how research can confirm them. The response is also 10 words below the 250-word minimum; the 11 words copied from the task prompt do not count toward the required length. Develop each reason and explain practical research steps more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction is followed by reasons, research methods, and a concluding statement. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In addition” help readers follow the main points. However, some links are mechanical, and the transition “On the other hand” does not express a contrast between the reasons and the research methods. The conclusion also repeats earlier ideas rather than bringing the response together. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as in “their houses where they live,” and the research paragraph moves quickly between offices, online resources, and neighbours. Use more precise transitions and connect each method to the kind of information it can provide.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “emotional connection,” “market value,” “registration office,” and “personal stories.” There are also attempts at more descriptive language, such as “historical building.” However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “great interest about,” “stamp paper of our house,” and “speaking from the neighbours.” Spelling errors such as “resourses” are noticeable, while repeated use of “house” and “history” limits variety. Aim for more precise terms for property records and research sources, and check spelling and natural word combinations. This would make the meaning clearer and the vocabulary more appropriate to an academic response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional example beginning “if someone know that their house was built 100 years ago.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur often enough to affect clarity. Examples include “they wanted to know” after the present-tense introduction, “how they can create and designed,” “if someone know,” and “the feel relax and happy.” The question-like fragment “How to research the history of a buildings?” also interrupts the paragraph’s sentence structure. Practise keeping tense consistent, matching subjects and verbs, and forming complete questions and clauses. More accurate control of these basic patterns is needed alongside attempts at complex sentences.
