Student answer (Band 6.0)
In several countries, number of people who want to research about the history of place they live in, is increasing. People are usually interested in finding out the historical heritage of their home and they can find these details with help of their elders and from administrative units.
Firstly, Individuals are usually passionate about the history of place where they live either it is an individual home or may be a building. Having a good knowledge about history of one's home can help in understand its importance in terms of heritage. For instance, for people who are willing to get more knowledge that how their ancesstors bought that land or apartment in building and under what circumstances they moved to that place. Secondly, if place where they live is old enough to have witnessed a historical event, for instance, a migration or may be natural disaster, then they might want to know about importance of this place during that time.
This research will strengthen bonding of individuals with place they live in.
However, there could be several ways to find the historical data about the place where one lives. Firstly, In order to search about historical data about any place, the best way is to find a person who witnessed construction of that specific place. In one's family, older poeple could be the ideal choice for this information, as they can better explain about events, for instance, they can tell about circumstances when this place was bought and what made them to move there and this could be most authentic source to find information. Secondly, local administrations, for example, land record centers can provide information related to historical ownership of that place and who owned this area during specific historical event.
In conclusion, people are taking more interest in researching about history of place they live in to understand what circumstances their family faced to for this place, and to undrstand the importance of that place in historical events. Older poeple in family and administrative units are the best resources to find out details and authentic information.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both questions: it gives reasons for interest in a building’s past, including family history and possible historical events, and suggests asking older relatives or consulting land-record offices. These ideas are relevant and the examples about migration, disasters, and property ownership help explain them. However, some points are asserted rather than fully developed. For example, the claim that research strengthens people’s bond with a place is not explained, and the discussion of historical events could show more clearly why residents would want to investigate them. The conclusion summarises the main ideas, though it largely repeats earlier points. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation or specific example to make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on reasons, a paragraph on research methods, and a conclusion. Sequencing is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” help identify the stages of the argument. At times, however, these transitions feel mechanical, and some links between ideas are not fully clear. The sentence “This research will strengthen bonding of individuals with place they live in” stands alone rather than being connected to the preceding reasons. There is also repetition of “place where they live” and “historical data.” Use more varied referencing and connect each supporting point explicitly to the main idea of its paragraph.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for discussing the topic, and the response attempts relevant terms such as “historical heritage,” “historical event,” “administrative units,” and “historical ownership.” Meaning is generally clear, but some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “research about the history,” “strengthen bonding,” and “what circumstances their family faced to for this place.” Spelling errors such as “ancesstors,” “poeple,” and “undrstand” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim for more idiomatic combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, use “investigate the history,” “strengthen their connection,” and “the circumstances in which their family acquired the property.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses beginning “if” and “as,” and the main ideas remain understandable. Some grammatical errors occur, particularly with articles, agreement, and sentence construction. For example, “number of people” needs a determiner, while “help in understand” has an incorrect verb pattern; “people are taking more interest in researching about history” also combines an awkward structure with an unnecessary preposition. Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, as in “Firstly, Individuals.” These errors rarely obscure the intended meaning, but they make the writing less controlled. Practise accurate article use and verb patterns, and proofread each sentence for a complete, well-formed structure.
