Student answer (Band 5.5)

The youth of some nations is notied being highly intrested in researching about the past of their home or appartment, this is the outcome of curiosity due to lack of knowledge about that and finding it facinating to know. In this essay, i am to explore the reasons for this interest before providing some methods of researching this.

The increasing interest of getting information about house among indidviduas is largely due sence of curiocity which is not being fulfield by their parents or house members. The children espetially, are tend to be more curious so it can become a conversation starter among their friends and many peolple are into architecture which makes them question about how it was designed or why it was designed like this. Teenagers in india for instance wants to know about their house because history books often mentions that indians used to burry gold below their home to keep it safe. This type of half baked knowledge makes them intrested to go deep into facts.

A possible way this curiocity can be fulfiled is by compairing the house with the photos that are old or taken when building was newly constructed. Another way is by asking about this to the old members of the house which are usually grand parrents. Individuals in my country, for example usually ask their grand parents that how the house was built or how old it is so they can get a rough idea about it as this information cant be avillable on the internet.

In conclusion, i must mention that reason of curiocity are the half known facts about the history and the best way to satisfy that will be by asking to the individuals who may know this.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions: curiosity and incomplete knowledge are offered as reasons, while old photographs and conversations with older relatives are suggested as research methods. The examples about Indian history and asking grandparents make the response relevant. However, the reasons are not fully separated or developed: the discussion shifts from children’s curiosity to architecture and then to stories about buried gold, without explaining how common or influential each factor is. The research section is also narrow, and the claim that information is unavailable online is not supported. To strengthen the response, explain the motivations more clearly and include further practical sources, such as property records, local archives, or previous owners.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, one paragraph on reasons, one on research methods, and a conclusion. This makes the main progression easy to follow, and phrases such as “Another way” help signal a new method. Some connections are less clear or mechanical, however. For example, “This type of half baked knowledge” refers to the preceding historical claim, but the link between that claim and people’s interest could be explained more explicitly. The conclusion repeats the main points rather than drawing them together, and “this” in “satisfy that” has an unclear reference. Use more precise linking and referencing, and make the conclusion briefly synthesise the reasons and methods.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary, including “conversation starter,” “architecture,” “constructed,” and “rough idea,” which helps communicate the topic. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the reader pause: “researching about the past,” “the outcome of curiosity,” and “asking about this to the old members” are not natural formulations. Spelling errors such as “intrested,” “curiocity,” and “avillable” are also noticeable. Aim to use accurate topic-specific phrases and check spelling carefully. For example, “investigate the building’s history” and “consult older relatives” would express your ideas more naturally and precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “which makes them question” and a conditional construction in “so it can become a conversation starter.” Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in sentence structure and grammatical forms occur across the response. Examples include “The children… are tend to be” and “Teenagers in India… wants,” where the verb forms do not agree with the subjects. The opening sentence is also a run-on, joining several ideas with commas, and “ask their grandparents that how” has an incorrect clause pattern. Practise subject–verb agreement, article use, and sentence boundaries, then proofread complex sentences to ensure each clause is complete and correctly connected.
