Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response makes a brief attempt to address the topic, but it does not adequately answer either question. It says people want to know about their buildings’ past, then suggests using social-media apps and live location; this does not explain the reasons for people’s interest or give a clear, workable account of how to research a building’s history. The statement “I agree your statement” also does not establish a relevant position, since the task asks for reasons and research methods rather than agreement. The ideas remain very limited and unsupported, with no relevant example. The response is also substantially below the required 250 words, which leaves little room to develop the two parts. To improve, explain several plausible motivations and describe specific research sources, such as property records, local archives, or previous residents.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening introduces the topic, followed by a paragraph about searching for information. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the connection between people’s interest in a building’s history and the proposed use of social-media apps is not explained. The repeated references to “this app” and “this technology” are unclear, and the response moves from a general claim to live-location instructions without showing how these help uncover historical information. The heading “Introduction” does not substitute for clear paragraph development. Use separate paragraphs for reasons and research methods, and connect each point with a clear explanation. More precise referencing and a logical sequence of steps would make the response easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary is basic but includes some relevant topic words, such as “history,” “house,” “building,” and “location,” so the general subject can be recognised. However, the range is narrow and several phrases are imprecise or awkward, including “find history about house” and “this app is perfect.” The repeated use of “app” and “technology” also limits variety, while “bad times” does not communicate a clear meaning in this context. Choose words that describe the task more specifically, such as “property records,” “previous owners,” or “local archives,” and use natural collocations. For example, “research the history of a property” is clearer than “find history about house.” These changes would make the ideas more precise and appropriate for an academic response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response mainly uses short, simple statements, and some basic sentence meanings are understandable, for example, “They want to know about the past of their buildings.” However, control is inconsistent in longer or more complex attempts. In “I agree your statement,” the verb pattern is incomplete; “Many countries of people are interested to find history” has problems with sentence structure and the infinitive construction; and “All the country are develop” shows errors in number and verb form. The sentence “You search this location on this app and start the live location” also lacks a clear grammatical relationship between its instructions. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, verb forms, and complete sentence patterns. Building a few correct complex sentences would add range without sacrificing clarity.
