Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions: you give several reasons, including historical interest, attachment to a home, property value, and spiritual beliefs, then suggest online research, asking building managers, and speaking with neighbours. These are relevant responses, but several points are asserted rather than explained. For example, the link between researching a building’s past and becoming a “responsible citizen” is unclear, and the claim about future price increases needs a clearer explanation or example. The research section is also brief and could identify specific sources, such as property records, local archives, or previous residents. The response therefore covers the task, but some ideas remain under-developed and the final point about government applications is not clearly explained.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on reasons, a paragraph on research methods, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “First,” “Second,” “Moreover,” and “Overall” help readers follow the main stages. However, the list of reasons feels mechanical, and the links between some ideas are not fully clear—for instance, historical interest, social responsibility, and property prices are presented in sequence without showing how they relate. The research methods are grouped together but receive little development. The conclusion introduces government applications rather than clearly summarising the methods already discussed. Use fewer list markers and build clearer links between each main idea and its explanation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “historical perspective,” “culturally linked,” “economic perspective,” and “spirituality,” which helps convey a range of reasons. There are also attempts at less common expressions, but several choices or combinations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “quest of knowing,” “attached with the house,” and “application of the government.” These sometimes make the intended meaning less precise. Spelling errors such as “nieghbours” and “responsibilty” also affect accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and precise terms for research sources and property history. The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main ideas, but more accurate word choice and spelling would make the response clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “As” and “so,” and most of the main ideas remain understandable. However, errors occur in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “a responsible citizens” has a singular article with a plural noun, while “the houses they lives in” has a subject–verb agreement error. In “people are becoming more and more aware of their surrounding,” the noun form and number are not controlled. Some sentences also join ideas awkwardly, particularly the long sentence about historical interest and the area’s past. Check agreement and sentence boundaries, and revise complex sentences so each clause has a clear subject and verb.
