Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You make a limited attempt to address both questions: childhood memories are offered as a reason for interest, and Google Maps and asking relatives are mentioned as research methods. However, the response does not explain these ideas clearly or develop them with relevant detail. The example about visiting a childhood school and parents’ house is difficult to connect to researching a building’s history, and the technology point does not explain how an app could reveal historical information. The response is also substantially below the required minimum length, so there is not enough material to answer both parts adequately. To improve, explain several plausible reasons and give specific, practical research steps, such as checking property records, local archives, or speaking with previous residents.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response into an introduction and separate paragraphs about reasons and research, which gives the reader some sense of the intended structure. However, ideas within the paragraphs are not arranged in a clear sequence, and connections between sentences are often difficult to follow. For example, the childhood memories, school, friends, and parents’ house are placed together without explaining how one leads to the next. The research paragraph moves from apps to Google Maps to relatives without showing how these methods establish a building’s history. Use a clear topic sentence for each paragraph, then explain and illustrate each main point. Linking words and references should clarify relationships rather than leave the reader to infer them.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
Your vocabulary is basic and repetitive, with repeated use of words such as “people,” “history,” and “house.” Some phrases communicate the general topic, including “old memories” and “Google map,” but several choices are unclear or imprecise, such as “Mostly people like history about they live” and “The old memories stuck the mind.” This limited control sometimes makes the intended meaning difficult to understand. Build a more varied set of topic-specific expressions, including terms for a building’s previous owners, age, architectural features, and historical records. Also learn useful collocations as complete phrases, such as “research a property’s history” and “consult local archives,” and check that each word fits the meaning you intend.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response relies mainly on short, simple statements, and there is little evidence of a wider range of sentence structures. Frequent errors in sentence formation and basic grammar sometimes obscure meaning. For instance, “people spend life of childhood with parents house” lacks clear grammatical relationships, while “Many apps is available” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence beginning “for example spend this times” is also incomplete, and the final sentence does not form a clear reported question. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles, plurals, and verb forms. Once these are more secure, add controlled complex sentences using “because,” “which,” or “for example” to explain your ideas.
