Student answer (Band 5.0)

In today's world, more and more people are becoming interested in finding out about the history of the the house or building they live in. Most people usually search the history of their houses to feel secured and safe. There might be other people actually interested in the history of the accommodation they stay in and willing to find out what is left to be explored and discovered.

The major reasoning for people to search up about the place they are currently staying at would be to make sure it is free of dangers and risks of the building falling apart. Moreover, the houseonwers tend to search up about the history of their houses when they started to hear strange noises and encounter unexplainable events, to make sure they are free of any spirit. Another reason would simply be curiosity; people enjoy finding out what they don't know. There are certain group of people that buy ancient and ruined houses to explore what is left to be discovered.

With the adventage of modern technologies, people can research about the buildings or the houses they are living in just by searching it up on the internet. If the resources are not available, you can ask your neighbours about the previous owners. Another possible way would be to ask a question on soical media.

To conclude, majority of people are taking safety precaution by researching about their new houses or buildings. To research, people could search it up the internet or work with the neighbours to find out.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both questions: safety and curiosity are given as reasons, and you suggest using the internet, asking neighbours, or posting on social media. However, the ideas are only briefly explained. For example, the reference to strange noises and spirits is not connected clearly to how researching a building’s history would resolve a concern, and the methods are listed without explaining what records or sources people might consult. The conclusion repeats the main points rather than adding support. The response is 241 words, so it is 9 words below the required minimum; the 15 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each reason and research method with a specific example to address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph on reasons, a paragraph on research methods, and a conclusion. Basic linking words such as “Moreover,” “Another reason,” and “To conclude” help show relationships between points. However, progression is limited: the introduction mentions feeling safe and curiosity, then the body repeats these ideas without much development, while the final paragraph largely restates earlier content. Some connections are also unclear, particularly the move from strange events to checking for spirits. Use clearer topic sentences and explain how each example supports its point. A more purposeful sequence—reasons first, followed by practical research sources—would make the organisation easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “history,” “previous owners,” “neighbours,” and “social media.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “unexplainable events” and “ancient and ruined houses.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors are noticeable: “feel secured,” “search up about,” “houseonwers,” “adventage,” and “soical.” Repetition of “search it up” also makes the language less precise. Choose more natural academic phrasing and proofread spelling. For instance, “look into a property’s history” and “consult local records” would express the research methods more accurately and avoid repeated informal wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use mostly straightforward sentence patterns, with some attempts to combine ideas using clauses, as in “when they started to hear strange noises” and “to make sure they are free of any spirit.” The meaning is generally understandable, but the range is limited and frequent grammatical errors reduce accuracy. Examples include the repeated article in “the the house,” the unclear construction “The major reasoning … would be to make sure,” and the agreement and article problems in “majority of people are taking safety precaution.” The final sentence, “people could search it up the internet,” also has an incomplete prepositional pattern. Practise accurate articles, agreement, and verb patterns, then vary sentence structures while checking each sentence for completeness.
