Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many part of the world, individuals are curious to know about the historical background of their house or building in which they are living. As this trend is increasing day by day. This essay will explore the reasons behind that, it will also provide different ways, how they can do their research.
Firstly, I believe when someone is buying a new house, out of curosity or for the safer side, they want to know the history of that house, if there is any criminal activity such as murder, took place or not. For example, I heard a cases in Virginia, USA, in which the women was offered a house below the market price. She accepted the offer and bought that house, later she got to know that the house was possessed by an evil spirit as the mother of the saler was killed in that house. This is the reason people become cautious to know the history of the house before buying.
In addition, sometimes people like to know the history of their house, if there is any traditional value involved with it or not. Later, if they want to sale that house, so they can sell it in higher price. Furthermore, I believe there are many ways to research about the history of their house. For example research online, and the most effective way is to talk to the neighbours especially those who are living for a very long time in that region.
In conclusion, sometimes people prefer to get to know the history of their house when the curiosity sparks, sometimes to avoid any potential harm before buying a new house. Lastly, the best way to research about that is by taking guidance from the neighbours and researching it online.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions and maintain a relevant focus. The reasons include curiosity and concern about possible criminal events, as well as interest in a building’s traditional value and its potential resale price. The Virginia anecdote supports the safety point, while online research and conversations with long-term neighbours answer how people can investigate. However, the second reason is only briefly explained, and the example is sensational rather than clearly showing how historical research informs a decision. The research methods also need more detail—for instance, you could mention property records, local archives, or historical societies. Developing these points more evenly and explaining their relevance would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The first body paragraph focuses on safety, while the next combines another reason with research methods, so the reader can follow the main progression. Linking phrases such as “Firstly,” “In addition,” and “In conclusion” help signal this structure. However, some connections feel mechanical, and the shift from the resale value of a house to ways of researching it happens abruptly within the same paragraph. The opening also contains a sentence fragment beginning “As this trend is increasing.” Grouping the research methods in a separate, clearly signposted section and using more precise links between ideas would improve flow and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “historical background,” “criminal activity,” “traditional value,” and “potential harm,” which allows you to discuss the topic clearly. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “below the market price.” However, several word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors reduce precision: “curosity,” “a cases,” “the women,” “saler,” and “sale that house” are inaccurate, while “for the safer side” is not a natural expression. Repetition of “history” and “house” also limits variety. Aim to use accurate topic-specific terms such as “property records” and “previous occupants,” and check spelling and common word partnerships carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional clauses such as “if there is any criminal activity … or not” and a relative clause in “those who are living for a very long time.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors are noticeable. “In many part” needs plural agreement, and “As this trend is increasing day by day” is a dependent clause presented as a sentence. In the example, “a house … took place” has an unclear structure, and “the mother … was killed” would need a clearer link to the event being described. There are also errors in articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries. Review clause construction and agreement, then proofread each sentence for a complete subject–verb structure.
