Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response makes a limited attempt to address the topic by mentioning that people are interested in the history of their homes and that some buildings are old. However, it does not explain the reasons for this interest or answer how people can research a building’s past. The final sentence, “The reason behind this, they do not”, is unfinished, so the main explanation is left unclear. The response also falls substantially short of the required 250 words, which leaves both parts of the task largely undeveloped. To improve, give distinct reasons—such as curiosity, renovation plans, or discovering a property’s heritage—and explain practical research methods, for example, public records, archives, or interviews with previous residents.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: it begins with a general statement, then refers to historical buildings, and starts to introduce a reason. However, the ideas do not develop in a clear sequence, and the response ends before the explanation is completed. Connections between sentences are weak; for example, “The history is a interest subject now a day” is followed by a sentence about people living in historical buildings without explaining how the points relate. There is no paragraphing to separate reasons from research methods, and the repeated references to “history” and “building” do not create progression. Use a clear structure with an introduction, one paragraph for reasons, one for research methods, and a conclusion, linking each point explicitly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses a small set of relevant terms, including “history,” “background knowledge,” and “historical building,” so the topic is generally identifiable. There is also an attempt to use more specific language in “causes behind this.” However, vocabulary is repetitive and several choices are inaccurate or unclear, such as “resouses” and “the most of people.” Phrases like “reasons which force them to live in today” do not convey a clear meaning, limiting the precision of the message. Build a more varied set of topic vocabulary and use familiar collocations accurately: for instance, “research a property’s history,” “local archives,” and “previous owners.” Proofread spelling and check that each phrase expresses the intended idea.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentence forms, but control is weak and errors frequently make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “The most of people in some countries increase their interest” has problems with the article, subject–verb construction, and natural sentence structure. In “people live in historical building and house,” singular and plural forms are not controlled, while “The reason behind this, they do not” is an incomplete sentence with no clear grammatical connection. Most sentences also rely on basic patterns, with little accurate use of complex structures. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, agreement, and plural endings. Then add controlled clauses using “because,” “which,” or “so that.”
