Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You identify one relevant reason: people may want to understand a building’s past and learn from older construction methods. However, the response addresses the task only minimally. It does not explain other possible reasons for this growing interest, and it does not answer the second question about how people can research a building’s history. The discussion of carbon dating is brief and not clearly connected to how an ordinary resident could investigate their home. The response also ends mid-sentence, leaving the point about earthquakes unfinished. The required minimum length is not met, which contributes to the limited development. To improve, answer both questions directly and support each main idea with a clear explanation or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic progression from an opening statement to a paragraph giving a reason, and phrases such as “The primary reason” and “As a result” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, the response is too brief to establish a clear overall structure, and the research methods requested by the task are not organised or discussed. The links between discovering mysteries, learning construction methods, and avoiding weak foundations are not fully explained, so the reader has to infer how these points relate. The final sentence also stops abruptly, disrupting the flow. Use separate paragraphs for reasons and research methods, and connect each supporting point explicitly to the question.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt some topic-related vocabulary, including “carbon dating,” “foundation,” and “ancient method,” which helps convey an interest in building history. However, several word choices and spelling errors make parts of the response difficult to interpret, such as “old structured building,” “activite methodes,” and “sitaution.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “search about the mystery” does not naturally describe researching a property’s history, and “week foundation” appears to mean a weak foundation. The range is limited, with repeated references to “methodes” and “building.” Build accuracy with common collocations for this topic, such as “historical records,” “previous owners,” and “construction techniques,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response includes some simple sentences and an attempt at a complex sentence, for example, “Learning those methodes will help us to avoid…” This shows an effort to express cause and effect, but grammatical control is uneven. In the opening, “the house or building were they live in” has an incorrect relative form; “where” is needed. The phrase “people are encouraged to search” does not clearly express the intended idea, and “today’s generation and upcoming” is not a complete, well-formed reference to future generations. The final sentence is unfinished, so its structure cannot be followed. Practise accurate relative clauses, articles, and complete sentence construction, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and finished thought.
