Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response makes a limited attempt to explain why people investigate the history of their homes, but it does not clearly answer either question. The discussion of migration, food and water, and the growth of populations is only loosely connected to people’s interest in a particular house’s past. The second part—how people can research a building—is not addressed: there are no methods such as consulting archives, old maps, property records, or previous residents. The examples about inventions and dinosaurs also move away from the task. To improve, give a direct reason, such as curiosity about former occupants or a wish to understand a building’s value, then explain practical research methods with relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a broad attempt to move from the past to the present, and phrases such as “after this” and “in this time” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the response is presented as one long, largely unpunctuated block, so the reader cannot easily distinguish the reasons from the research methods. The sequence from migration to modern houses, inventions, and dinosaurs is difficult to follow, and several references such as “these things” do not make clear what they refer to. Organise the answer into separate paragraphs for each question, use clear topic sentences, and connect each supporting detail directly to the main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response attempts a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “history,” “migrated,” “populations,” “research,” and “ancient,” and some meaning can be inferred. However, many word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “becoming fevoring in seek out,” “old accomodation history,” and “the products are not finished.” Spelling errors—including “indviduals,” “accomodations,” and “migeration”—also make the text harder to read. Build a more accurate set of phrases for this topic, such as “investigate a property’s history,” “previous occupants,” and “historical records.” Check spelling and use a dictionary to confirm how words combine naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

There are attempts to express time and cause, for example, “After finish these products they are migrate again,” but sentence structures are often incomplete or incorrectly formed, which makes relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Verb forms and agreement are inconsistent: “peoples are live,” “the world populations is grown,” and “people are ables to buying” do not follow standard patterns. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries are also frequently uncontrolled, with long strings of clauses joined without full stops. Practise building clear simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses accurately—for example, “After resources ran out, people moved elsewhere.” Careful proofreading for tense, agreement, and punctuation would improve clarity.
