Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, in some areas of the world, a significant amount of people are keen to find the historic side of the houses or buildings they are staying. The reasons are that they want to preserve their ancestor's hertitage and art, and also vinatge is more in trend then the modern houses. This essay will shed light on both the reasons and the findings behind it.
To begin with, a wide range of people are interested to do research on homes they live in to keep their ancestor's belongings save. This is because most people want to preserve their heritage and art to show their future generation. For example, I kept my father's house the way he had at his time. Instead changing, I kept the furniture, walls and home settings the way it was by polished them in the same way. Therefore, with this people can keep their traditional values alive.
Additionally, where everyone is having modern and luxerious houses, many people find vintage more classy. Because vintage is not common and such buildings attract more than the modern ones. For instance, my friend opened a restaurant with ancient settings. All the decorations are from old times, which grasp everyone's attention.
In conclusion, most of the citizens of some countries are more eager to learn about the history of the houses and buildings they live in and the reasons behind this is to preserve the belongings of their four- fathers, and the trendy look of buildings which attracts everone by keeping it save.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify two relevant reasons: preserving family heritage and valuing the appearance of vintage buildings. The examples about your father’s house and your friend’s restaurant help illustrate these points. However, the task also asks how people can research a building’s history, and this part is not answered: the essay describes preserving or decorating buildings rather than methods of investigation. The reasons are also only briefly explained, and the conclusion repeats them without adding a clear response to the missing question. To improve, address both questions explicitly—for example, discuss local archives, property records, libraries, or interviews with previous owners—and explain how each method helps uncover a building’s past.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs beginning “To begin with” and “Additionally,” and a conclusion. This makes the main line of thought easy to follow. Some linking is mechanical, however, and connections between ideas are occasionally unclear. For instance, “Because vintage is not common” is a fragment, while “Therefore, with this” does not clearly specify what “this” refers to. The conclusion also repeats the reasons rather than bringing the response together, and the second question is absent from the progression. Use clearer links between claims and examples, and organise the body around the two questions so the essay develops in a more complete sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “preserve,” “heritage,” “vintage,” and “traditional values,” and these choices help communicate the general ideas. There is also an attempt to use less common language, such as “significant amount” and “luxurious,” though some expressions are inaccurate or unnatural. Examples include “historic side,” “ancestor’s belongings,” “grasp everyone’s attention,” and “keep … save”; spelling errors such as “hertitage,” “vinatge,” and “everone” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully. Vocabulary for research methods—such as “consult property records” or “search local archives”—would also help you answer the full task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including explanations with “because” and examples introduced by “For example” and “For instance.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. For example, “a significant amount of people” has a countability problem, “Instead changing” is missing a required grammatical form, and “by polished them” uses an incorrect verb construction. There are also sentence-boundary issues, as in “Because vintage is not common…” and the missing space after “way.” Work on countable and uncountable nouns, verb patterns after prepositions, and complete sentence construction. More accurate control of these forms would make your ideas easier to follow.
