Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both questions: it gives several reasons for curiosity, including criminal history, former residents and family connections, and suggests research through police websites, articles, neighbours and older relatives. These are relevant and the personal example about wanting to know whether former residents had pets or children helps illustrate one point. However, some ideas are less fully explained than others. The discussion of criminal history does not clarify why this information matters to residents, while the family-history point is brief. The research methods are also listed more than developed; for example, you could explain what records or questions people might use. A clearer explanation of the significance of each reason would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on reasons, one on research methods, and a conclusion. Sequencing expressions such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Furthermore” help readers follow the main points. However, the repeated list-like structure sometimes makes the progression mechanical, and some links between ideas are not fully clear. For instance, the example about pets and children does not clearly show why learning about a previous owner is important. The conclusion repeats the main points but adds little synthesis. To strengthen cohesion, connect each example directly to the claim it supports, vary the transitions, and use clearer references when moving between the house’s history and family history.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “criminal history,” “previous owner,” “family history,” and “conversations with neighbours.” Some attempts at more specific language, such as “notorious,” show an effort to express nuanced ideas. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “leads towards the research,” “digging about the previous owner,” and “resolve the problem.” Spelling errors such as “appartment,” “interesred,” and “Furthurmore” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the main message, but they limit precision and fluency. Build a bank of natural collocations for researching records and past residents, and proofread spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response includes both simple sentences and attempts at more complex forms, such as “If they are not alive, older uncle or aunt can facilitate.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “individuals wanted to explore” shifts into an inappropriate past tense, while “many young generation want” has a number-agreement problem. Articles and sentence construction also need attention in “A cozy and comfortable house is basic necessity” and “They wanted to collect the information, that how notorious this place was.” The final sentence fragment beginning “As well as” is another issue. Review tense consistency, singular and plural agreement, articles, and how to join clauses; these corrections would make your varied sentence forms more controlled.
