Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is often seen people are giving more preference to their schedule instead of leisure activities. spending more time on work has lot of benefits ,in my opinion its drawbacks are more than its benefits.

On the advantageous side ,first of all it aids to reduce their financial stress especially in the era of inflation. they work from morning to evening for securing family future .for example , children can get better education in their future if their parents have good amount of salary, which is only possible with flexible working hours. moreover, by working long time, people can fulfill their all desires in life like buying luxury car , bungalow, and branded clothes.

On the disadvantageous side , the biggest problem of health issues can be faced by individuals if they are spending less time on physical activities . Setting long time in office can become cause of obesity for them, due to this they may suffer from various diseases like back pain ,swelling ,etc. Furthermore, it can create disturbance between their personal and professional life when they forget to draw a line . for example peolpe who spend more time on work places always forget to remember important days of family like birthday ,anniversary , which not only cretes conflict but also make distance from personal relations .

In conclusion, financial stability and fulfillment of ambitions are both main advantages of working extra time . it put an adverse impact on health and personal relatons.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages, and a clear position is established in the introduction. However, the essay falls slightly short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which necessitates a penalty. While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat under-developed; for instance, the link between 'flexible working hours' and 'good salary' is not entirely logical, as long hours often imply a lack of flexibility. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your examples with more depth and ensure the word count is strictly met to avoid unnecessary deductions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'first of all', 'moreover', and 'furthermore' are used to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally from the previous one will help improve your score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'financial stability', 'ambitions', and 'professional life'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and minor errors, such as 'Setting long time in office' instead of 'Spending long hours in the office' and 'make distance from personal relations'. These errors do not impede communication, but they highlight a need for more precise word choice and better collocation. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic or topic-specific collocations would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles ('in the era of inflation'), subject-verb agreement issues ('it put an adverse impact'), and inconsistent capitalization. Additionally, there are several spelling errors like 'peolpe' and 'cretes'. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed correctly. Increasing the variety of your sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will help you reach a higher band.
