Student answer (Band 6.5)
The discussion of long working hours is surely one that begs the question how advantageous it truly is. In my opinion, due to high impact on mental being, it has more overall.
Although having employees who are truly dedicated to their work and are ready to spend most of their day working, stands out from organizations' perspective. These organization treats employees like machines and let them work day and night. Firstly, employees are getting burdened with the amount of work they are doing which is affecting their health i.e. physical and mental health. We keep on hearing, cervical pain is very common for people sitting for long hours and also increasing stress among them. In addition, they get little time to spend with their families and pursue interests or hobbies.
Nevertheless, employees who work for long period generally have good will with their manager that plays an important role on their overall hikes, bonus and promotions as well. Not everyone have some hobbies or leisure activities to pursue, some people actually enjoy working late and do well in their respective jobs in order to achieve big in career. We have section of people who believes mastering one trade can help them rather than trying to be trying to be good in many like the famous saying "jack of all trades, master of none",
Finally, another notable factor that presents a detriment is everyone have different beliefs and aspects in life, some want to follow passion apart from just being a hard working employee where as some want to build whole life out of it.
In conclusion, both sides present strong arguments; nonetheless, given the above factor states disadvantages dominate the discussion. Goals in life are achievable with physical and mental well being. Solely working makes life dull and monotonous, one should balance this and enjoy life to the fullest.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have identified both advantages and disadvantages, though the development of these ideas is somewhat uneven. For instance, the discussion on the 'advantages' of long hours is a bit disjointed, and the final paragraph is quite brief, failing to fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed point supported by a clear example or logical explanation. While your position is clear, the depth of analysis could be increased to reach a higher band by exploring the long-term societal or personal implications more thoroughly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Although', 'Nevertheless', and 'In addition' to link your thoughts. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced, such as the abrupt start to the final paragraph. Additionally, there are some issues with referencing and sentence-level flow; for example, the sentence 'These organization treats employees like machines' lacks a clear link to the previous sentence. Improving the variety of your cohesive devices and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'monotonous', 'detriment', and 'dedicated'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'achieve big in career' (achieve career success) and 'good will with their manager' (good rapport). Some phrases are also slightly repetitive or imprecise. To reach a higher band, focus on using more natural collocations and precise academic vocabulary. You should also be careful with word forms, as seen in 'everyone have different beliefs' (everyone has). Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary will help you convey your ideas with greater precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder the clarity of your message. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('These organization treats', 'everyone have'), missing articles, and punctuation errors, particularly with comma splices and run-on sentences. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are noticeable throughout the text. To improve, pay closer attention to basic grammatical rules such as pluralization and verb conjugation. Incorporating a wider variety of complex structures, such as conditional sentences or passive voice, while ensuring they are error-free, will help you achieve a higher score.
