Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is true that people love to spend more time on works instead of doing leisure activities. Although this phenomenon has some benefits, i think that downsides of it far more .

On the one hand, there are several advantageous associated with this trend. First and foremost, people like to spend enough time on work because they want not only to success in our life but also gain our experience due to more competition. These days, everyone compete others to achieve goals because they want to make name and fame in front of other that is why they have need to work a a lot rather than doing leisure activities. For instance, if people not focus on work then they can back from other others.

Despite these merits, i think demerits can be ignored of this trend. Firstly, when individual spend number of time on work, they neither isolated nor suffer from disease like stress and depression. To elaborate, if they have no free time, they can not spend time with their families in turn of which it would reduce the bonding between families. In addition to it, people can not concentrate on their work because they suffer from anxiety and stress that is why they can not do better performance. Apart from it, leisure activities is more beneficial for people to stay healthy if they not take time for these pursuits, they would deprived to learn moral values like communication, time management and many more.

To conclude, while spending time on work is beneficial , i believe that there are number of disadvantageous attached with this trend.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages, and a clear position is maintained throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'success' and 'competition' is repetitive, and the section on the disadvantages is slightly confusing due to grammatical errors, such as the claim that people who work long hours are 'neither isolated nor suffer from disease,' which contradicts the intended point about the negative impacts of overwork. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that your supporting points are logically consistent and fully explained rather than just stated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'First and foremost,' and 'In addition to it.' However, the flow of ideas is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. Some sentences are disjointed, and the logical progression between ideas is sometimes weak, particularly in the second paragraph where the argument about family bonding and health issues feels a bit rushed. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence builds logically upon the previous one would improve the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'make name and fame' instead of 'build a reputation,' and 'back from other others' which is unclear. Additionally, there are some minor errors in word form, such as 'advantageous' used as a noun instead of 'advantages.' To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary to express your ideas more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'leisure activities is'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'they would deprived'), and missing articles or prepositions. The sentence structure is often repetitive, and some sentences are grammatically incomplete or confusing, such as 'they neither isolated nor suffer from disease.' While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency would be very beneficial.
