Student answer (Band 7.0)
In recent years, the change in the work culture has become a hot topic. While some believe that working for a long period without having a leisure activities beneficial. I strongly disagree with this, and in this essay, I will explain my reasons.
There are some advantages if we work continuously. Firstly, it will bring a comfortable life style. For instance, If a person works more hours, it will bring more payment, which will make them rich. As a result, they will be having all the materialistic things. Secondly, they will be having a career growth, since they are spending to much time doing their job. This will make them expertise in their profession, eventually they would be in the good book of the boss.
On the other hand, there are two main problems caused by not giving proper time for other physical activities. To start with, the people without proper leisure activities such as games, sports or walk will be end up having a severe health problems. For example, an computer engineer, who is working day and night without a break will have a chance of getting depression. This will effect the mental well being because of stress and anxiety. Moreover, workaholics will not have time for their family. They will become a robotic type, who never have time for their closed ones and they will not have good memories with the family or peers.
To conclude, there are pros and cons for people who give more important to work than the practical activities. However, healthy lifestyle and family is more essential than the money. In my opinion, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The essay addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding the advantages (financial gain, career growth) and disadvantages (health issues, family neglect) are relevant and logically developed. However, the development is somewhat superficial; for instance, the point about 'materialistic things' could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. The conclusion clearly states that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages, fulfilling the requirement to provide a personal opinion. To improve, ensure that each supporting example is more fully explained to demonstrate a deeper level of critical thinking.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into four paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the phrase 'the people without proper leisure activities... will be end up'. While the progression is generally clear, the use of cohesive devices could be more varied and sophisticated to achieve a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'workaholics' and 'materialistic', which are used appropriately. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'in the good book of the boss' (idiomatically incorrect) and 'practical activities' (which does not accurately capture the meaning of leisure). Spelling is generally accurate, but the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, preventing a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'having a leisure activities' (article/plurality error), 'spending to much time' (spelling/preposition), 'will be end up' (verb form error), and 'an computer engineer' (article error). These errors are persistent but do not significantly impede communication. To reach a higher band, the student needs to focus on subject-verb agreement, article usage, and consistent verb tense control.
