Student answer (Band 7.0)
Huge number of the population spends extensive time working and find extremely less time for fun. This way of life has some drawbacks as well as positive effects as well. Some people thrive under press and they prefer to be busy and productive most of their time while other people gets exhausted by work overload.
Firstly, people who spends majority of their time working makes more money, which allows them to take care of their family. For example, if an IT professional works 8-hours and 7-days a week would demand his desired salary and with that he can provide for his family. Secondly, some people just enjoys their job so much so that are likely to feel bored while they are not working. There are so many jobs that are extremely adventurous and interesting that doesn't feels like a job, which ultimately allows the practitioner to always enjoy. For instance, a football player would never complain for his workload because he enjoys every single second while he is training.
On the other hand, there are several disadvantages of spend way too much time in professional life and not giving enough time to recover mentally and physically. Due to the surge in demand of services by corporate, increasing number of people find themselves trapped into a typical corporate job that doesn't allow them to enjoy their personal life. Moreover, working long hours and not taking enough rest maybe very detrimental to a person's overall well being. To explicate, if a construction worker is clocking long shifts, due to heavy lifting and fulfilling the requirement of precision he may exhaust himself entirely.
In conclusion, spending extensive amount of time working can be ideal for somebody who enjoys every second of his job and can be a nightmare for somebody who doesn't enjoy his work.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both advantages and disadvantages of working long hours. The position is clear, although the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the example of the IT professional is a bit simplistic, and the argument regarding the football player is a bit narrow, as it focuses on a specific, non-representative career. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced arguments that consider the broader societal or psychological implications of work-life balance. The conclusion is brief but effectively summarizes your stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover' to guide the reader through your arguments. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions could be more sophisticated. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the relationship between sentences is always explicitly clear to the reader.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'detrimental', 'practitioner', and 'well being'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'Huge number of the population' (should be 'A huge number of people') and 'thrive under press' (should be 'thrive under pressure'). While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focusing on more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing will help you improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people who spends', 'other people gets', 'jobs that... doesn't feels'). These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To reach a higher band, you need to ensure greater accuracy in your verb forms and pay closer attention to pluralization. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining control over basic grammar will significantly enhance your performance.
