Student answer (Band 6.5)

These days people have hectic schedule on their daily basis. They always skip their free time activities to fulfill their work time. According to my point of view, this situation have more demerits than merits. I will explain these pros and cons in the upcoming paragraphs.

To commence with, having long work hours are main cause of diseases. people have no time for yoga, gym, morning walk and any other outdoor activities, this may leads to stress, heart disease, fat and depression. Furthermore, poor connection with family and friends, because if a person more engage in work and do not spend free time with his or her family, can be breakdown in his relationship. that is why, vacations are necessary for healthy relation. Moreover, a workaholic person may adopt rude behavior because he has no pace of mind, he always in the stress of work and loose the peace in his life.

However, there is only one advantage that is financially stability. Masses, who do long time work, they earn more money than the average working person. Mostly these types of people are money minded.

To conclude, there are a plethora of drawback of being a workaholic person such as health problems, poor family management and restless life. On the other hand, their is one benefit for more work that is financially support. It is said that " Money cannot buy happiness and health". So leisure activities is vital for the heathy life style. we should do balance between work and free time activities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. You have identified both the disadvantages (health, relationships, stress) and the advantage (financial stability). However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the point about financial stability is mentioned but not fully explored or contrasted effectively with the negative impacts. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed explanations or specific examples. The conclusion effectively summarizes your position, but the overall depth of the response remains at a basic level, which is consistent with the Band 6 descriptor.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude'. However, some of these transitions feel mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by grammatical errors, such as the sentence 'Furthermore, poor connection with family and friends, because if a person more engage in work... can be breakdown in his relationship.' The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, which affects the overall cohesion of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'hectic schedule', 'workaholic', and 'plethora'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'pace of mind' (instead of 'peace of mind'), 'loose the peace' (instead of 'lose the peace'), and 'financially stability' (instead of 'financial stability'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a limited control over more sophisticated vocabulary. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('this situation have', 'long work hours are main cause'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing ('if a person more engage in work'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed correctly.
