Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of working long hours, ultimately taking a clear position. The ideas are relevant, such as health impacts and family strain for disadvantages, and career advancement for advantages. However, the development of these points is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation of 'sitting jobs' and 'fast-paced jobs' is a bit simplistic and lacks depth. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your examples with more specific reasoning or real-world context. The conclusion effectively summarizes your position, though it could be more integrated with the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Moving further,' and 'In conclusion' to signal the progression of your argument. However, some transitions are mechanical, and the internal cohesion within paragraphs is occasionally repetitive. For example, the phrase 'To elaborate it' is used twice in a similar way, which makes the flow feel slightly formulaic. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'this situation,' 'these issues') is more precise would enhance the overall flow and coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'anxiety,' 'career growth,' and 'relationships’ gaps.' However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'working for long time' instead of 'working long hours' and 'sitting job' instead of 'sedentary job.' Additionally, there are minor errors in word formation, such as 'more working hrs' and 'carrier growth' (should be 'career'). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit your ability to convey more sophisticated ideas with precision. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic collocations would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles (e.g., 'spending the time for their hobbies'), prepositions, and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there is more disadvantages'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the response. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and article usage, which will allow you to use more complex structures with greater accuracy.
