Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, people devoting more time to work long hours have become increasingly prevalent because of considerably amount of pressure out on breadwinner. Although working long hours may have some benefits. I believe the disadvantage of working long has outweigh its advantages.

One of the drawbacks of working for long infinite number of hours is it doesn't provide any flexibility to your dreams and hobbies. people working non stop without intervals and not thinking about their personal responsibilities end up being depressed and frustrated from live. people who eradicate unnecessary work enables them to save both time and peace. For instance, people who have spent two hours in travelling to and from work instead could spend this time in exercise, childcare or personal development. This significantly helps in both productivity and greater well-being.

The primary advantage of working for most of the day is that people earn considerably large amount of money because they are extremely poor and need to feed the family. Furthermore, some people are talented and ambitious that they just want to work and earn wealth, so their future generation doesn't have to work and can live luxury life. For example, children coming from wealthy family don't worry about their future as they know they have enough money to support their and their kids future, whereas children coming from poor family have to think about their parents and their future by working day and night. As a result, the both category children don't spend or get time to enjoy leisure activities.

In conclusion, many people spending time on working have negative impacts on health and family issue. Though people devote more to work, they think about current and future responsibilities. According to my perspective, the limitations of working for long hours are far more than its benefits.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding the disadvantages (lack of work-life balance, health issues) and advantages (financial stability) are relevant. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. For instance, the discussion on the 'advantages' of working long hours is slightly repetitive and could have been more focused on the societal or personal necessity rather than just the contrast between wealthy and poor families. The conclusion effectively summarizes the stance, though the overall development of the arguments is a bit simplistic, keeping it within the Band 6 range.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'the both category children' or the abrupt transition between sentences. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between some sentences feels disjointed. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved to achieve a higher score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'considerably amount of pressure', 'out on breadwinner' (likely meant 'put on'), and 'frustrated from live' (meant 'life'). While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'eradicate' and 'productivity', the misuse of basic collocations and grammatical forms of words limits the score. A wider range of precise vocabulary is needed to move beyond the Band 5 level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('the disadvantage... have outweigh'), article usage ('a luxury life'), and awkward phrasing ('people devoting more time to work long hours have become increasingly prevalent'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentence fragments or run-on ideas. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of errors is high enough to impact the overall accuracy of the writing.
