Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of working long hours, ultimately taking a clear position that the disadvantages outweigh the benefits. The ideas are relevant, such as financial gain versus health and family time. However, the development is somewhat limited; the arguments are repetitive, and the examples provided, such as students paying tuition, are brief and could be expanded with more depth to fully satisfy the requirements of a Band 7. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, but the overall development of ideas remains at a basic level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the transition 'Whereas, person will earn more money...' in the conclusion, which does not flow naturally. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, and the logical flow between sentences within paragraphs could be improved to ensure a smoother transition of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There is a reliance on basic terms like 'good', 'bad', and 'more money'. Some collocations are unnatural, such as 'attached more with disease' and 'healthy fitness'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the presence of word-choice errors (e.g., 'tution' instead of 'tuition', 'stuck' instead of 'stuck') indicate a limited lexical range that is sufficient for communication but not sophisticated.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('This circumstance have', 'it also have'), missing articles ('for family supports', 'to buy house'), and incorrect verb forms ('will harmful', 'someone who worked... have'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent and occur in almost every sentence, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Punctuation is generally functional but lacks precision.
