Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 118 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address the prompt by stating a position ('it has more disadavantages'), the arguments regarding family time and health are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting examples or depth. The response is essentially a brief outline rather than a full essay. To improve, you must expand each body paragraph with specific examples, personal experiences, or logical consequences to meet the length requirement and provide a more comprehensive analysis of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'first and foremost' and 'secondly', but the overall progression is limited by the brevity of the text. Paragraphing is present, but the ideas within the paragraphs are repetitive and lack a clear, logical flow. The connection between sentences is often mechanical, and the lack of a concluding paragraph makes the structure incomplete. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are linked more fluidly using a wider variety of cohesive devices, such as 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in addition to this'.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'long hours of work' and 'doing long hours' are used repeatedly, which restricts the range of expression. There are also errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'acativities' and 'disadavantages'. The language used is basic and does not demonstrate the ability to use less common lexical items or precise collocations. To improve, try to incorporate more varied vocabulary related to the workplace and lifestyle, such as 'work-life balance', 'professional burnout', or 'sedentary lifestyle'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('most of people are spending'), incorrect preposition usage ('long hours than'), and sentence fragments ('because people spent their whole time...'). The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, which are necessary for higher band scores. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, punctuation, and the use of complex sentences involving subordinating conjunctions like 'although', 'since', or 'which'.
