Student answer (Band 6.0)

Now a days , more individuals are likely to do work a whole day and due to that they don't have enough time for other curricular activities. This has some advantage as well as some disadvantage which we will examine in further essay.

Firstly, let's talk about the benefits of working long hour. In today's world, everything is more expensive. Having a family and full filing their need would be the priority of person and due to that they need to work more .Companies are paying but demanding more time from person in office. Moreover, working full time has another advantage that they can secure their future by working hard and building savings. For instance, if a person is working full time at early age then it would be helpful that he gets more experience and in early age he starts saving and would easily understand money management.

On the other hand, Working long hours has some disadvantage. People were not give time to their loved-one. Also, they would not work on their fitness. To conclude, In my view individuals work long hour has more disadvantage than advantages. If time is not given in a manner it need to be then the results it gives is off no use.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages, and it provides a clear position in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding financial benefits is clear, but the discussion on disadvantages is underdeveloped and lacks depth. The essay would benefit from more specific examples or a more thorough exploration of the consequences of long working hours. The ideas are relevant, but the explanation remains at a surface level, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'if a person is working a whole day and get tired not given enough time to family, then he lacking in a part'. Improving the variety and naturalness of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are some spelling errors, such as 'full filing' (fulfilling) and 'Now a days' (Nowadays). The range of vocabulary is somewhat repetitive, and the student relies on basic terms. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary to express complex ideas more effectively. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated lexical items limits the score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'People were not give time' (should be 'are not given time') and 'individuals work long hour has more disadvantage' (should be 'working long hours has more disadvantages'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While the student attempts complex structures, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and verb tense usage prevents a higher score.
