Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages of working long hours. However, the position is not consistently clear throughout the essay. While you mention that some people believe there are more advantages, you do not explicitly state your own stance until the conclusion, and even then, it remains somewhat balanced rather than taking a definitive position. The ideas are relevant, such as financial stability and career growth, but they are somewhat under-developed. To reach a higher band, ensure your position is clear from the introduction and provide more nuanced explanations for your arguments rather than listing them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices like 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'Furthermore' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'those activities which is better for this mind'. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the transitions could be smoother to improve the overall readability and coherence of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'financial freedom', 'survival', and 'bonding'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'make happier' instead of 'increase happiness' and 'do some unexpected thing' which is vague. You rely on somewhat repetitive phrasing. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations related to work-life balance and economic factors to demonstrate a wider and more flexible range of lexical items.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('this situation have', 'most of things very costly') and article usage. Some sentences are fragmented or lack necessary prepositions, which occasionally makes the meaning slightly difficult to follow. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. Increasing your control over basic grammar and ensuring subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your score in this criterion.
