Student answer (Band 6.0)
We live in a highly competitive era where it is hard to manage work life balance. A lot of individuals spend less time for their personal growth or activities ,whereas they spend majority of time on just working. I strongly think it has more disadvantages than the advantages.
To begin with, there are a plethora of disadvantages of this. Firstly, people feel disconnected with their family and friends and after certain time it affects their relation, if they spend most of time on working. Secondly, it becomes hard for the individuals to grow in their life because they can not focus on learning new skills and trying different new things. Apart from that, it does affect on one's mental health or a physical health if they do not get enough sleep or do not workout.
Moreover, people can not live for themselves for example, they could not go for vacations with their loved ones and visit the new places. As well as, they miss the chance of meeting new people and making connection with them.
However, it brings some advantage like people can concentrate more on themselves and become successful in the early days of their life rather than spending time on some unnecessary things such as phone and etcetera.
To conclude, I believe it has more disadvantages because it affects a lot to the person by physically and mentally. Also, it makes hard for people to spend their time on themselves for their personal growth and quality time with their loved ones.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. The main ideas—mental health, personal growth, and social disconnection—are relevant. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about 'unnecessary things such as phone' is vague and lacks depth. While the task is addressed, the arguments could be extended with more specific examples or logical elaboration to reach a higher band. The structure is clear, but the discussion of the 'advantage' is brief and lacks the depth required for a more balanced or nuanced exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Moreover', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or repetitive. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some sentences feel slightly disconnected due to the simple nature of the linking phrases. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the main arguments, contributing to the overall coherence of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'plethora' and 'disconnected', which is positive. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'it does affect on one's mental health' (should be 'affect one's mental health') and 'makes hard for people' (should be 'makes it hard'). The range is sufficient to communicate, but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'spend less time for their personal growth' (should be 'on'), 'it affects their relation' (should be 'relationships'), and 'by physically and mentally' (should be 'physically and mentally'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors in sentence construction. The errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score.
