Student answer (Band 4.5)
work plays vital role in our life .A numerous individuals think that nowdsys people are working long time and they dont have time for spare time activites.i will discussed both merits and demrits below.
firstly, there are plent of advantage for working long hours in daily life because due to people can earn more money but also they can achieve anything with money because nowdays money is neccesary is all our life so they work for money, for example nowdays family size is increasing day by day. all familes have five to six people so they require to many things such good foods, clothes, cars, traveling and much more important things those we are using in daily life.as a result, people are working long hours for fulfilng family needs as well as they want to give beautiful life.
on the other hand , there are many demrits of working long hours in daily life. first and formest is sedentary lifestyle because when they work long hours then they feel tierd and dont have good energy thne they dont do lesiure activites such as walking, exercise etc.as result, they wil become lazy and get alots of health isssues such as lack of sleep, blood pressure problem , heart diseases, obesity etc. Moreover, owe to this situation they become introvert because they spend to much time in office and not spend time with family and friends then they losse confiedence but also they losse communicte with people.
in conclution,i beleive that many people are working long hours for money but money is not all for us. we have to take care our helath and family. i know health is wealth so people should work only regualr hours not work for more then hours that would be benifical for them self and their familes

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the merits and demerits of working long hours, presenting a clear position in the conclusion. The ideas are relevant and attempt to cover both sides, such as earning money to support growing families versus facing a sedentary lifestyle and health issues. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, with over-generalised points. For instance, the discussion on financial needs lacks deeper context, and the points about health are listed rather than fully extended. This places the response comfortably at Band 5.5, as it addresses the task and attempts to present a position, but the ideas remain under-developed and lack the depth expected at Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5
The text is divided into four paragraphs, showing an attempt at a standard essay structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the internal cohesion is heavily compromised by a severe lack of proper punctuation, capitalisation, and run-on sentences. For example, phrases like "firstly, there are plent of advantage for working long hours in daily life because due to people can earn more money..." demonstrate faulty and mechanical cohesive devices. Paragraphing is present, but logical progression within paragraphs is obscured by grammatical fragmentation and poor sentence boundaries. These issues lead to an overall impression of Band 4.5, landing between Band 4 and Band 5 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The student demonstrates a limited range of vocabulary that is minimally adequate for discussing work and lifestyle topics. Words such as "money", "family", "health", and "life" are repeated frequently due to a lack of synonyms or paraphrasing ability. There are noticeable spelling errors throughout the response, such as "nowdsys", "activites", "plent", "demrits", "tierd", "lesiure", "alots", "isssues", "oweh", "losse", "confiedence", "communicte", "conclution", "beleive", and "regualr". These spelling and word-choice errors cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the lexical score to Band 4.5, reflecting a mix of basic vocabulary and frequent mechanical slips.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The student attempts to use complex sentence structures using conjunctions like "because", "when", and "so", but these attempts are frequently faulty and result in severe run-on sentences with absent punctuation and erratic capitalisation. There is a general absence of correct sentence demarcation, with multiple clauses jammed together without periods or capital letters (e.g., "when they work long hours then they feel tierd and dont have good energy thne they dont do lesiure activites..."). Frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ("families have five to six people so they require to many things") and tense inconsistencies, heavily distort readability and mean the majority of sentences contain errors. This performance aligns with Band 4.0.
