Student answer (Band 6.0)

Work is very important to live a good life. Therefore, people prefer to work more and end up having long working hours. As a result, there is no time left for rest or any other activities. I firmly believe that this situation has more drawbacks than advantages because it can affect individuals life in negative way. This essay will elaborate on disadvantages with some examples in the following paragraphs.

One of the major cons is, stressful life. If a person could not spend some time in the activities that they like then their life become boring and a person end up having more stress and anxiety due to busy schedule. For example, office worker spending 10 hours in the office and after coming home they feel very tried and avoid other tasks. After certain days they fade up with the same routine and lose interest in life. Secondly, working for long hours means having less communication with family members. Although, proponents has to work hard due to financial condition of the family, spending very little time with their kids and other members can also give significant effect in their personal life.Their family suffer a lot because of them.

Furthermore, some hobbies and leisure activities are very essential to become more productive. Citizens can go on vacation and on small trips two times in a year is highly recommended by doctores because it can help to stay more producative in their desire work and also useful for their mental health. Working long hours makes a person menatlly tired. That is why having regular breaks from the work can prevent long-term mental disorders. For instance, according to the research department of Toronto University, people who work more than eight hours in a day end up getting mental health issues like, dementia and alzaimar in retired life.

In conclusion, although work is the only way to live wealthy life, having very little time for our faviourite activities also very harmful in a life.In the beginning people like it because they can earn more money but eventually end up having many issues with the health and lose their family connections.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear and well-developed position that working long hours has more disadvantages than advantages. The writer presents relevant ideas regarding stress, family relationships, and long-term health risks, supporting them with explanations and examples, such as the reference to Toronto University research. While some arguments, like the mention of vacations, could be integrated more smoothly, the main position is sustained throughout the essay. The student fully meets the requirements for Band 6.5 to 7.0 by covering all parts of the prompt with extended ideas, showing clear intent to weigh the negative impacts against the positive aspects of earning a living.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay is divided into a clear introduction, two body paragraphs focusing on specific drawbacks, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are employed to link sentences and paragraphs, such as 'Furthermore', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and transitions are at times mechanical or slightly faulty, such as 'Although, proponents has to work hard...', which disrupts the smooth progression of ideas. Additionally, some sentences within paragraphs feel slightly disjointed. This level of organisation and cohesion aligns well with a Band 6.0 descriptor, where the overall arrangement is coherent, but referencing and linking devices show some mechanical or inaccurate usage.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'productivity', 'anxiety', and 'dementia'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'fade up' instead of 'fed up', 'producative', 'menatlly', 'wealthy life' instead of 'wealthy lifestyle', and 'alzaimar' for Alzheimer's. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they reflect limitations in precision and collocation. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main points, but frequent minor inaccuracies keep the score at Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilising conditional structures and subordinate clauses, such as 'If a person could not spend some time in the activities that they like then their life become boring...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and article usage, such as 'individuals life in negative way', 'proponents has', 'doctores', and missing articles before nouns. While these errors are noticeable and can cause slight hesitation for the reader, they do not completely obscure the meaning. The structural control corresponds closely to the Band 6.0 descriptors, featuring a mix of structures alongside persistent grammatical mistakes.
